    Facebook sold your profile?

I've not spent a huge amount of time investigating this, but what I did find ticked me off.

First of all, my profile is private - and the only information deemed Public are the two pics for my profile.

However, I discovered a clone of my Facebook page on ProfileEngine.com.
These suckers have my profile pic (Which, at the time it was captured, was me in my Red Skull mask).
They also publicly list my "Likes".

Here's the kicker, anyone can take ownership of that profile on their site.

Talk about really aggravated right now...

That's why I'm not, and never will be on Facebook, Twitter, or any of that other crap.

A year or so ago a Facecrap employee came out and said they were doing this. To date, Facecrap has neither denied it, or announced that anything has been done about it. I do not have an account there either, and I would have to have a real good reason to change my mind about those thieves, although I may just have such a reason.

        I can't replicate your results.

Do you have public search turned OFF on FB?

WoW! I had zero problems finding nearly my entire Facebook profile on this site. The worst part is they want me to scan and send them a copy of my Drivers License in order to delete the profile; that would be the profile on a site I never asked to join. WTH!!! I am not about to give some site I have never heard of until now that has my information without my permission the rest of my private information!

You can search Fb for me if you chose to send me a Friend Request. Nothing on my privacy settings seems to have changed, but if you go to ProfileEngine.com and search for yourself, you may be surprised with what you find. I spotted mine super fast because it had my Red Skull mask as the profile pic.

Yessir, I too read that when I tried to figure out how to delete it.
Damn. You can even see who all were on my 'Friends List' at the time they captured my profile.

This is really disturbing me because like you I keep most of my Facebook information private; however, whatever was public at anytime on Facebook shows up on profileengine.com. I am truly bothered by this.

People can find you because you use a URL with your name on it...even if your name is common with time someone can weed you out and find you....you can make a personal URL and PRESTO no one can search you unless you tell people.

and there's nothing wrong with FB if you know how to use it........

                      Yikes.
Search worked with just the name only (as my birthdate and local are private or something).
Highly uncomfortable that anyone can 'claim my profile'.

Even MORE uncomfortable that there's a link right on my stolen profile that looks up phone and addresses for the me's out there, with a button 'that's the one' if they find the right me.
Good thing they don't have the right ME, but SHEESH.

And it's being properly updated, because it shows my last date/activity I posted on Facefart.

Luckily, I never post anything important, just crap. Joke's on them! ..or me?

Yes I read and understood what you said, but are you surprised by this??? I mean Facebook is about making money through advertising while you use their Product for free.....would you allow someone to use your property for free? or would you charge them a small fee? Or would you set up for advertisers to set up camp so that you get money so others can use your property for free....

Facebook doesn't charge because you'd get a mass exodus from there.....and advertisers want to know what you like etc....and they are in it to get super rich especially now that the company is public.

Sure it's messed up that they did that, but honestly what are you going to do? it's their property, if people don't want private info out then they shouldn't join FB.......
