"A heavy smoker of unfiltered cigarettes from the age of 11, Kristel was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2001 and underwent three courses of chemotherapy, and surgery after it spread to her lung. On 12 June 2012, she suffered a stroke and was hospitalized in a life-threatening condition. She died in her sleep, aged 60, on 17 October 2012, from esophageal and lung cancer. She was survived by her son, and her younger sister."

She was also a heavy cocaine user.

      RIP Emmanuelle.

Hard to believe that she was only sixty when she passed. I always enjoyed watching her.

I have the first Emmanuelle on VHS that I recorded off Cinemax - timeless classic. She was also in Private Lessons and Lady Chatterley's Lover, two other timeless Skinemax movies. RIP.

Man, I had no idea she was so ill! RIP! BTW, Cinemax showed the R rated version of Emanuelle which was a bit tamer than the European version which had a memorable scene involving a cigarette.

Sylvia was also in the immortal Concorde:Airport '79 which had her have this legendary exchange with George Kennedy

                "You pilots are such... men"

"They don't call it cockpit for nothing dear"

She was also in The Nude Bomb (a.k.a The Return Of Maxwell Smart) the much maligned Get Smart movie which I actually thought was quite funny even though they tossed the TV show's history out the door.

She was having an affaire with a Belgian writer in 1973 and the moved to France, where - thanks to his encouragemets - she landed the role for Emmanuelle. Yep, the Belgians did it again.

Despite everything she was a classy lady, RIP Sylvia

I know every friend of mine back in the day knew who she was. A coming of age discovery for many of us for sure.

There was a movie that was a series of shorts. In hers, she seduces a man from the beach who is a thief. He finds her husbands body as the police burst in to arrest him for murder. 10 years later he gets out and goes back to kill her but ends up having sex again. She asks for a cold drink and when he opens the fridge he finds her second husband's body. As the police drag him away he is yelling "It was worth it and I'll be back in 10 years."

                        CCC.

I can hardly call her an "actress".
Her main skills seemed to be "yes, I'll take my clothes off and show my boobs" (in a time when it wasn't done in mainstream movies). Her "acting" was non-existent.

Then she marries an award-winning writer, and presto, she's an A-list celebrity.
                            .
                            .
                            .
"When things are at their darkest, it's a brave man that can kick back and party."

She's one of the actresses that I don't care if they can act or not --- i'm happy enough just seeing her bareass on screen

I put Sybil Danning in that same catagory
