Will you be carving pumpkins this year?

I picked us up a couple pumpkins on the way home from work the other day, pretty good size ones. Tonight I got a book from the library with ideas and patterns. Will start carving probably Friday. Anyone else carving this year?

Whole Foods is awesome, they are right up there with Trader Joes. If you go on Saturday mornings the have free wine tastings. In my best Homer Simpson voice "MMMMMMM free wine"

Definitely! Going out to the pumpkin patch with my family on Saturday to find some nice pumpkins, then it's time to think of some cool scary designs.

I like Trader Joe's except their meats...they don't have butcher service, their selection is miniscule...and have encountered some old spoiled meat in the past there.

The meat section at Whole Foods here in Oakland...is unbelievable...which includes its own dry meats section, pricey as heck though...I bought a cut of dry ribeye...it was a little over a pound...and that sucker costs me $28...lol. That was the last time I bought dry meat...but I still buy regular ribeye, lol.

But other than that...Trader Joe's has good stuff.

OK...back to your regular scheduled pumpkin carving programming...

I see you cut out the top , the book from the library says to open them up from the bottom, says they sit flat and easier to light. I had never heard that before but it makes sence huh.
              Cool carving by the way!

We're hoping to start the official pumpkin carving tradition this year. We picked up one for each of us but I got a funny feeling that I'll be doing all the scooping, scraping and cutting. and I don't mind at all

I remember when my son was 2 1/2 years old, we bought a pumpkin to carve and he was so excited, he never saw it being done before. He watched my wife cut open the top and then reach in and pull out all the gross insides. That completely caught my son off guard, he almost threw up, it was close. I so wish I was video recording him at the time.
