I can appreciate that it has scientific value, especially for space exploration.
But I'm one of those people who feel that we should get our act together on Planet Earth first, and then explore space. When I hear how many billions are spent on designing a machine that can pick up rocks on Mars, I say to myself "how many thousands of lives of starving people could have been saved with that money?"
I think when you don't even have drinking water, the last thing on your mind will be "but at least we got to see some nice pictures of the surface of Mars..."
I fully back the plans to go out in to space, but I'd prefer saving human lives now first. Space can wait a little longer.
