The New Munsters Series Gets Canceled

I thought this was a bad idea from the start but now...

"in the wake of creative differences between the network and creator Bryan Fuller, NBC has decided to scrap the series and turn the $10 million pilot into a stand-alone Halloween special, airing October 26 at 8 PM."

"Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."

Good move. I too thought another Munsters rehash was unwarranted. I always pull out and enjoy the classic Munsters during this time of the year. I think the license would be better served in retro merchandise during Halloween. In my mind, that has been the best thing CTVT has done to date.

Just look at the picture. $10 million down the drain. You know, why just donate that money instead of spending it on such garbage?

At first I thought you guys were being harsh and couldn't understand why you wouldn't watch it before making a decision on how "garbage" it was. Then I looked at the first look pics. Wow......it does look bad. Am I the only one who sees more Wysteria Lane than Mockingbird Lane here......yuck!

I like the idea of a "Munsters" remake, just not this. I understand the idea of updating for a contemporary audience, but this just strays too far from the source. It's sad when "Marilyn" is the easiest to recognize...

At this point, I'd rather just see another halloween TV special, similar to what Fox did with "Here come the Munsters" in the 90"s. With Brad Garrett as Herman, of course...

Maybe Captain Action could do the Munsters? CA as Herman and Grandpa, Lady Action as Lily and Marilyn, and Action Boy as Eddie. I'd buy em.

It does just look weird with no Monsters in the Munsters-

I'll be interested to see the special. I'm not surprised they pulled the plug, NBC is a total mess right now, but I've always enjoyed what Bryan Fuller makes and was looking forward to seeing what his take was.

I'm really curious to see it too. The only bit I like upon inspection is Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, but you never know.

It boggles the mind this got green lighted in the first place. When they had so much obvious contempt for the source material, putting a condescending thin veneer of the Munsters over an unrelated show doesn't fool me or make me want to watch it. If they wanted to make a dark drama about monsters pretending to be human, go for it. The show may or may not be good, but don't call the characters the Munsters because they are not.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

                              That was 10 million???

They should hire some of those people who do webisodes of Star Trek, etc.
