I'm going to check out this drawer tomorrow...

It looks really nice, and it's the perfect size for my room...

My question...does this look like real teak wood?

Or might it be cheap particle cardboard?

The seller claims is 100% teak wood...but that scratched nicked corner surface has white under it (could be the picture flash).

Any wood cabinet experts in here?

    Thanks!!!

It's teak wood painted/stained in a dark mahogany color. The wood itself is not mahogany.

I'm going to check it out in about an hour from now...taking off to San Francisco.

        Thanks for your responses...

looks like laminate on that corner. it is probably some type of wood laminate over particle board core.

So does the entire thing look like it's made of particle board? Or just certain parts?

Take off date is withing the next ten minutes, I have to make sure before I take off...otherwise, I'm cancelling the date.

              Thanks.

I got off the phone with the seller...and he finally came clean (after my thousand questions, lol)...is not that he was hiding stuff from me...he just didn't know.

So I asked him specific questions...and he said the drawer was rather heavy (already a sign of particle board), and that it has a white material under that corner nick and not paint off a wall (another sign of particle board)...he did say the actual drawers were very light and thinner than the rest of the furniture...that indicates real wood.

So in the end, it looks like the actual frame is made of particle board, and the drawers are made of real wood...a combination of the two.

I can't pay $200 for that...to me...particle board is a cheapie way of making furniture...I like the real stuff...the most I'd pay him for that drawer is $80...no more than that.

                Thanks for participating, guys!

No, I was saying, why would any body stain teak period. That does not look like particle board at all. Teal is is not very dark and if the stain got scratched it would look like that.

Could be Teak vinear laminated on someother hardwood -maybe Oak ?

Just because it's venear doesn't mean it has to be partical board underneith the vanear.

lol, I was just gonna post the same thing. Looking at the top nick, it does look like a veneer. In any case it it's a veneer, it's not worth but 50 bucks.

I passed on it (I gave him a courtesy call), lol.

                            I'm currently looking at others.

                            Here's a cute one...it's only 15 inches deep...perfect...and best of all...it's only $45...

Two problems though...there's a buyer first in line...if he doesn't show up...the seller will contact me...the other bad thing...it's one hour drive away, sigh, lol.

I also contacted about this Ikea one...only $59...in San Francisco...much closer for me as well...

I kinda like the thrill of the hunt...if you know what I mean...

                            P.S. $200 for a used dresser...what was I thinking...
