    RIP Mongo - Alex Karras dead at 77

    Star of Webster and Blazing Saddles died today of kidney failure.

    That's a long life for an NFL guy. He was also in Porky's with his wife Susan Clarke.

      I rarely go a week without quoting Mongo.

      "Mongo only pawn in game of life."

      Even though my dad let me watch Blazing Saddles at far too young of an age (the TV cut, but still...), it took me a while to connect Mongo to Webster's dad. I did however connect him and his wife from Webster to Porky's when I saw it at WAY too young of an age. That was a shocker.

      That is a pretty long life for a pro football player. RIP.

            Yeah, the NFL had mentioned he was terminally ill a few days ago.

            Kidney failure was among many of his health problems...Karras also had been suffering from dementia, heart disease and cancer in recent years.

                  Very sad, but he was a shell of his former self so it is the best. He can now find peace.

                    His family is involved in the lawsuit agianst the NFL over the long term effects of head injuries. One of the "Fearsome Four". He also dabbled in pro wrestling for a brief time during the 60's when he was suspened by the NFL for betting on games. RIP, Alex.
