I have a really good Ebay suggestion...what do you think?

I think we've all forgotten about an auction and missed the end of it, or wanted something and didn't have the money until next payday, or just missed a listing completely.

Point is, many times if you search completed listings, you'll see something that got away and didn't sell.
I think it would be awesome if there was an "Ask seller to relist this item" button for those listings that didn't sell.

It would be like the second chance offer, but initiated by the buyer instead, and Ebay would still get their fee.

It seems a win/win/win for the buyer, the seller, and Ebay. How would I suggest this to Ebay?

You mean only that buyer would be able to buy it, right? I'd go along with that.

I do this all the time. If they have good feedback I will even ask them if they want to sell of eBay. (I know it's a no no but it saves them money). If there is an item that I missed out on or forgot to bid, I will even tell the seller that I will buy it for the winning bid price if the winner doesn't end up paying. I have actually bought a few items this way as well.

It's been awhile since I've purchased off ebay. I was approached once with what was called a 'second chance auction'. It was a personal 'buy it now' offer, at my top bid price.
The only problem I can see, is sellers shilling their auctions with no fear of outbidding and winning their own auctions. Other than that, a buyer requesting a 'second chance auction' from a seller, would sure work in ebay's favor $.
