Looks like the groundhog is going to see his shadow AGAIN-- on Sat.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix
I was thinking about starting a thread dedicated to this movie
Its very polarized (i.e. good for discussion)---like--- many people love it--
-and many people despise it (mostly because of the repetitiveness)
----and not many "inbetweeners"
I'm on the "love" side. One of my favorites. Thanks for the post.

A new "special edition" of the dvd was just released with a new commentary with Director Harold Ramis along with some other making-of type features. Unfortunately, Murray declined to participate.

Thanks for the heads-up...like you, I also am into the "extras" and
regret that Murray is absent. I'll be sure to pick it up tho'

You have to wonder why he wouldn't participate. It's a beloved film - one of his signature roles. Why would you not wanna sit in a room with one of your old buddies for a couple hrs and talk about it? Did they not offer him enuff $$ to do it? Is he on the outs with Ramis? I just think it's weird.
^^^sometimes I think its just a business move---some of the "big" bigger stars keep
interviews and personal appearances and stuff like that to a minimum to keep an
"air of mystery" about them, supposedly aiding their image and marquee value by doing this

If there were a Quotable Groundhog Day - I would be there!!
Bill Murray is one of my favorites.
But, since when did he become a serious actor?
He's one of my favorites too. I don't know if I'd call him a serious actor. Maybe a more mature one. I just think that he's been trying different kinds of roles. And even though some of his recent movies haven't necessarily been comedies like "Groundhog Day" or "Stripes," he's still funny in them. There were a lot of moments in "Lost in Translation," that made me laugh, like the photo shoot where the photographer tells his character to act like James Bond, or him singing in the kareoke bar. There's always "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" if you need to see him in a more "comedic" role. I think Bill Murray keeps getting better with age, partially because he's been doing such a variety of work.
Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?
My wife and I just watched the film to ring in the non-holiday holiday; she hadn't seen it in over ten years, and was jubilant about how great she thought it was. It's one of my all-time favorites; not only hilariously funny, but really moving and kind at heart. It's a brilliant film on many levels.
But my wife had a very legitimate question about the groundhog ceremony: Who actually decides whether the GH sees his shadow or not? Is it a council of weathermen or politicans or what? Does anyone know who's behind this enduring mystery???
