    Walgreens has the Monster Cereals!

For those of us who are not on the East Coast, we West Coasters only get this treat once a year. Usually, I have to venture all the way to Target to find it, but tonight I was shopping at Walgreens and found it! I bought 2 boxes tonight, and tomorrow, I'll get more. Woo-Hoo!

Sometimes I find them in a supermarket, too. But, yeah, usually requires a trip to Tarjay.

I bought a box of Count Chocula, but it doesn't taste anything like what I remember. Did they change them, or am I remembering with my kid tastebuds?
The cereal seems like it has a different texture altogether...like it's made from a different grain than the original.

^ I thought the exact same thing. I bought all three Monster Cereals at Target last week and Count Chocula was the only one I opened so far. I think they changed the formula.

It's only in our area at this time of year also (usually just Target) All the stores stopped carrying them year round several years ago....

I always stock up on my Monster Cereals in October. I usually buy 13 boxes, eat one immediately (sometimes I am pigging out on dry Frankenberry in the car on the way home), and then allot myself one box a month.

I wish they would put the vintage artwork back on the boxes. I think they would sell scores more just for the artwork alone. I always find it fascinating how a seasonal product seems to miss the obvious in this age of retro goodness.

I know they've changed the formula of Franken Berry and Boo Berry. They don't taste the same anymore. Now I just stick to the Count. It tastes the same to me.

Well the corporate goal for General Mills was all cereals had to be whole grains and 25 percent less sugar or corn syrup. So yeah, the formula probably has changed from the 70's.

I noticed the monster cereals at Dollar General today. I dont know if its just on the eastcoast stores though.

I havent thought about buying in the last few years. I always thought the cereals tasted fine, I dont see any reason to change them.

Count Chocula is my all-time favorite cereal. Yeah, they went all multi-grain in the formula so there is a slight difference. I don't eat that stuff anymore, but way back in my childhood I used to mix Chocula and Peanut Butter Crunch. I should be given partial credit for Reece's cereal.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

My Target had them.(Along with all the other halloween.) I didn't know they were rare, last year all my Grocery stores had them on clearence forever. I wish they would change the packaging. They had the same CG design for about 2 years now.

I can appreciate the artwork of those boxes...but I just don't dig eating those sugary cereals, I'm a straight Corn Flakes, Wheaties, or plain Cheerios man...lol.

They have 100% changed the formula...I own a ton of vintage monster cereal boxes and the ingredients list alone is different...they taste absolutely nothing like they did in the 70's/80's
