Yeah, it's pretty sad. I think if they had a full band behind him and let him lip-sync, it would have worked better. As it stands it makes him look a nut whose lost his voice.

I'm not sure if it's as sad as it looks. Eddies' got a really great sense of humor and I think that's what the commercial is playing off of. I saw him in concert over the summer (yes he was the headliner) and he was a good showman that knew how to work a crowd and entertain. Vocally, his voice isn't what it was in 1985 but the dude is 63 and smokes a pack a day. Afterwards I got a chance to meet him briefly and he could not have been nicer. Now if you didn't know any of that about him, the commercial makes him look totally crazy. Still he sang what I think is the greatest song to come out in the 1980's..Take Me Home Tonight.

Yeah, obviously the intent of the commercial is to be silly and cringe-worthy, and Eddie certainly delivers..

I also saw him in concert this past summer, part of the NYS Fair free concert series. The man has toured endlessly for umpteen years, cranking out the same set of his hits and standards.. you can't blame him if he shows up drunk for a few, right? Yeah, I've heard some stories..

But as an 80s teen, the money-man will always have a place in my musical heart. He was one of the first concerts I ever went to in 1986 at our local college.. a great memory..

I'm kinda glad to still see him out there, always like the money man. He plays a mean sax

Thanks sean, i was wondering that. He came off like a stroke victim. But hearing he still tours is pretty funny.

I actually think he was a stroke victim way back in his younger days. It was drug use related. I've seen him several times both back in the 80's and a couple of times in the past 10 years and was never disappointed. I can't expect him to be as good as he was then at 63. Meatloaf is another that I've seen several times. The last two times I can't figure out how he didn't have a heart attack. Very high tempo stage show, for a guy that age, but always good. Wish I had seen him back in his prime. the shows must have been unreal.

It all seems to be in good fun. I also like the bodybuilder ad.

                        That was Eddie Money?

For a minute there, I thought it was comedic genius Richard Lewis that had hit hard times.

                          I don't get why it's sad...it's a self-parody and he's getting paid...lol.

He was playing a Casino not too far from here not too long ago. He's gotta eat I suppose and so he has to book the gigs to feed himself and pay the bills. What else is he gonna do? Live off the royalties of maybe 6 really good songs he had that nobody in the modern day average public knows his name unless someone tells them or they are a long time fan. Long live Mr. Money!
Next time you pull up to McDonalds and Eddie Money is taking your order. Remember how bad you thought his voice sounded in that commercial. He most likely figured it out and took on a new career change. Sad day Mr. Money.
