Wow, Manning with three interceptions in the very first quarter.

Plus a fumble for a total of four turnovers, all in the first quarter.

Gonna need a better O-line, or it'll be a long season. And again, some sketchy officiating.

My problem is I can never seem to find someone into sports as me. (MLB, NHL, NFL) Like someone will say that they're a baseball fan and I'll mention something and they'll look at me like I was speaking a different language. Or I find the current fans that only know about what's happening right now but bring up anything from 5 or 10 or 50 years ago and it's like they're surprised to find out there was a league back then. I've also had terrible luck with knowing people or working in places that support the opposite team I like. I can understand the Rangers to Devils ratio since the Rags have been around for 100 years (but have one 1 cup in the modern era) but the Yankees are supposed to be the most popular team on the planet and yet I seem to find coworkers that are Met fans or Yankee haters. (Schadenfreuds are the worst to deal with when they don't actually have a team they root for and just root against yours.) The Giants have a way bigger fan base than the Jets and yet my last two girlfriends were Jet fans (and Giant haters. Also Met fans too.) In both cases it was part of the reason for the breakup. One other thing that seems to bake my cookies is that when you do start talking about a sport with a group of people are knowledgeable and there's like one guy that doesn't follow what you're talking about but follows another sport and they try to bring it up by putting down the thing that your talking about. I noticed this happen most with soccer fans. For example, a few months ago I was talking to a couple of my friends and my brother about baseball right around the trading deadline and my cousin was over too and he starts off his contribution to the discussion with " I don't see how you guys can follow baseball it's a dying sport. You should follow soccer. At least it's something the world follows."
"Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."

I love the NFL and enjoy discussing it.

I also played football, basketball, and baseball until my knees went bad at age 17 thanks to Sinding Larsen Johansson Syndrome. Seriously, I have never forgot that name as I thought for sure my Dr. was making it up. He turned out to be kind of a crappy Dr. (messed up my Dad's knee replacement twice!) so who knows how accurate that diagnosis was.

Had a medical excuse and missed my Sr. year of gym because of it. Arthritis set in next and I have been able to predict the weather ever since.

This growth-related injury is more common in teens who play sports that require a lot of running or jumping. Find out why it happens - and what you can do to avoid and treat it.

I find it insanely easy to not comment on sports threads. I have no interest and nothing to add, so I just move on, it's all good. Plenty of conversations to jump into.

I actually wasn't talking about the internet, I ment in real life.

It's hard to avoid the subject in real life when someone walks over to you and asks you if "you seen the game last night"

That's almost a standard line any man introduces himself with.

I feel for people like you. I follow the nfl,PGA,nba, super 14 and epl pretty closely so I usually fit right in to any group of guys who are shooting the....you know. There's a guy at work who is lost when it comes to sports and it's obvious he feels isolated when the inevitable sports talk conversation rears its head. The nfl season is by far the worst though....

I'm also interested in comics(from dick Tracy to the fantastic four!),movies, toys and a HUGE star trek fan (all of it). So I can also swing that way...I pretty much can blend into any crowd I may be surrounded by because of the infinite interests I have.

I'm a non-sports person too Mike. Don't have any interest in sports but I just let people have their fun.

I like football, and I'm a Pittsburgh fan, but I'm not hardcore into the details, so I can get lost pretty easy when stats & figures start getting tossed around. I just don't get into that part of the sport, but I enjoy watching the games, going to the games, etc. I worked with a couple guys who endlessly debated stats and would ask my opinion, and it's tough to get out of that. A lot of smiling, nodding, & agreeing!

I have learned NOT to wear a team hat or shirt when I'm out at flea markets & yard saleing, as it's a sure way to get hammered by guys trying to hawk their team merchandise. Also, if you're out and recording the game to watch when you get home, it's also sure way to have it spoiled by a "helpful" guy letting you know the score.

I understand what you are saying Mike, and I agree. It's one of those small talk topics, like the weather, but apparently a guy thing. But I hate it when some guy I don't know starts talking about "the game" last night. Why should he assume I know what the hell he's talking about? Not everybody has the same interests, it's a bit presumptuous to think that every male follows sports IMO. It's stereotypical, I don't assume that every female is interested in clothes or cooking, that would be idiotic.
