You Can't Do That On Television & Mr. Wizard

Almost no one remembers Carol & Paula In The Magic Garden and Pinwheel though.

What was that show about the mannequin in the department store that came to life whenever they put the magic hat on him?
The Magic Garden and You Can't Do That On Television were both spoofed on Robot Chicken.

Square Pegs which featured Sarah Jessica Parker(whatever happened to her?), Tracy Nelson(granddaughter of Ozzie & Harriet), and Merrit Buttrick(who played Kirk's son David Marcus in Wraith Of Kahn & Search For Spock). The show's executive producer was Anne Beatts who also worked on NBC's Saturday Night which explained how Bill Murray was lured into making a guest appearence as a substitute teacher. Another notable guest star was Leave It To Beaver's Tony Dow who appeared as Sarah Jessica Parker's character's dad. Merrit Buttrick(Johnny Slash) passed away in 1989. Another favorite of mine was The Adventures Of Mark & Brian which aired on NBC during the 1991-92 season. The show was hosted by Mark Thompson & Brian Phelps, formerly of KLOS-FM in Los Angeles. Mark is in the process of launching a podcast with his wife Lynda.

It's the same with MTV's Spaceman statue. No one today remembers they give those out because of the I Want My MTV Astronaut planting the MTV flag on the moon in their early promos.

It's funny that no one remembers "You Can't Do That on Television" as Nickelodeon STILL rolls out the green slime from that show for their awards shows, and amusement parks and cruise lines.

That and Mr. Wizard were must-watch show for me as a kid. I was always kind of scared of Mr. Wizard though. He was so un-hip and kind of grumpy, unlike most kid-show hosts.

That was made in Toronto, I used to live with the sister of the stock boy on that show.

I actually liked that show. Wasn't it on TBS? I think it may have been their first original sit-com.
