Love the first video. About music lessons, well I remember back in the day all kids had to study some instrument. The usual thing for kids was violin, and girls were to study piano. I don't know why that doesn't happen anymore.
Anyway, formal music education didn't have any effects on me, just the bad memories of being bored trying to follow the instructions of the old professor. "No. You got to hold the instrument THIS way". That's why I never really got into music (guitar, bass) until I was in College. I was a 6 year old kid and had no freedom to "communicate" with the instrument. I never really felt the violin as I should. I was too rebel. I now make fun of my cousin when playing together. I can see he's not really comfortable holding the guitar the classical way while I grab it like whatever. I can not write music, but I don't play the guitar any less than my cousin. Formal training can have some advantages, but it can also kill your own way to communicate with and through an instrument.
If I had kids, I would teach them the basics on the guitar, but would let them "feel" the instrument their own way. Anyway, I rather have my kids into sports than into music. Too many hippies and unfortunate people related to such activity
