Yep and it even had a sequel (which makes the first one look like high Drama)

I'll second a vote for Yor hunter from the Future - gotta love Reb Brown

Some of my favorites are cult classics like:
    Remo Williams The Adventure Begins
Bucakroo Banzai Adventures across the 8th Dimension - Peter Weller before Robocop
    Trancers
    Highlander (the first one)
    Re-animator
Evil Dead (earlier somone brought up Army of Darkness but that is actually in the early 90's)
Hell comes to Frogtown - gotta love some Roddy Piper and Post apocalyptic desert

2 More great Fred Ward (Remo Williams) 80's films are
Timerider the Adventure of Lyle Swann - Which also has Peter Coyote in it
and Cast a Deadly Spell - Which also has Cleancy Brown in it

Hero At Large with John Ritter. A staple of Saturday afternoon TV matinees...but now largely forgotten.

The Ninth Configuration jumped to my mind. I've always loved that movie. I'm not sure if it's forgotten or just undiscovered.

Good one! Although I think part 2 is the one that seems to be forgotten.

I remember hearing from Harryhausen fans how disappointed they were in the old jerky stop-motion effects appearing in 'Clash of the Titans'. Many awaiting 'Clash' fans were lookinging forward to seeing the next evolution in Harryhausen's technique.
In 'Dragonslayer', the stop-motion dragon puppet's movements were plotted out on computer. Giving the dragon's movement fluidity that Harryhausen's technique, never quite achieved.
Thats interesting. As a kid I was as into Clash of the Titans as Star Wars, I never thought of it maybe being lackluster to some of the Harryhausen fans. I still think the Medusa parts maybe one of the best peices of his career.

I saw Dragonslayer in the theater. (1981?) I thought it was fantastic but I was so into fantasy/conan as a kid it could have been bad and I probably would have still liked it. Its a good film and I still like the effects. I think it looks very good. Sometimes when I cant stomach CGI any longer I like to put a movie like this in the DVD player.
