Ok some of you guys know i lost my brother at 17 and that he was 19 and had duchennes muscular dystrophy. For me that has meant since i was a small boy that labor day meant the telethon and only the telethon. I had an hour long talk with my mother this weekend about the changes. I knew some of the reasons she explained. These changes have actually been years in the making. Jerry will always be my number one hero in life, for everything he has done. It was his health that was one of the main reasons for his departure. He just couldn't do it anymore. There is some other stuff, but that is between him and MDA. One thing that was agreed on over the past few years was that the 21 hours plus telethon was no longer needed. With so many other ways to donate to MDA, the need to do it all during the 21 hours was just not what it used to be. There is so much social media now that we haven't had in the past. The other day Dairy Queen was asking people to donate a dollar. I first did just 5 but when i got to the pickup window i told them to make it $200. I think they all about passed out. They said it was the most expensive cheesburger ever. So i filled them into the reason why i was giving so much. I used to go to channel 3 wfsb in Hartford Connecticut with my parents and brother. Even after he passed i still made it out there to donate my time. I continued doing this wherever i lived thru the years till a few years ago and just decided to donate the money instead. It has been 23 years since i lost my brother to that dreaded disease. I hope someday i get to celebrate the finding of the cure. Till then, MDA needs your help and donations. It cost a fortune to care for someone with MD. My dad worked a job he hated, but it had some incredible benefits. Most times at least 50% of the cost had to come out of pocket. That is where MDA also comes in. They do what they can to offset as much of that cost as possible. Not all of it but a lot. I can't stress enough just how much things cost. I will always have a heavy heart for MDA and anyone with the terrible Disease. However it made me the person i am today. I am starting to get a little emotional typing this so i need to close it out. I beg all of you fine members to find it in your hearts to make a donation. It doesn't have to be much, just what you can afford. Every single penny counts and matters. Thanks for reading this post.

Thanks man, Jerry is my favorite person of all time. The time my brother met him was incredible. The man could make these kids smile like no other person could ever. I was sad to see him leave, but with his health, MDA really did need to move forward. Even with that said though, they will always be Jerry's kids in my heart and mind.Comment
