No More Jerry Lewis 23hr Telethon?

Why did they cut it to a 3 hr telethon? I remember as a kid, I couldn't wait for it to come on. I would watch for hours.

Few celebrities have done as much good, genuine charity work as Mister Lewis. That man has given a lot and to be treated like that is sad. I'm sad for Jerry but more saddened for "Jerry's Kids".

I was wondering what happened, myself. Not sure why they would take themselves out of the spotlight like that. Whether trying to capture a new audience for the charity or not, the telethon helps get the word out.

I miss our local show too - it was mostly hosted by Tony Orlando.

IIRC, the MDA dropped him early last year due to comments he had made. Last year's three hour show was too painful to watch, so I didn't even bother to watch this year's. Not the same without Ed McMahon(RIP).
