Nick Saban should be banned from the NCAA, or at least forced to coach for a school without the tradition and recruiting resources of Alabama. Saban's an excellent coach, with a great staff and all the talent in the world. It's an embarrassment of riches. If the AP and USA Today voters don't move them up to No. 1, it's blindness, jealousy or stupidity.
Sure, LSU has a ton of talent, but Les Miles is kooky, which gives good team's a punchers chance. USC is ultra-talented despite the sanctions, but Lane Kiffin's inexperience and ego gets in the way. As for Saban, his only faults are eating Little Debbie snack cakes off the floor (they are delicious), and male-pattern baldness on the top of his scalp. Those overhead camera shots by ABC, were unforgiving, but even still, give him credit for some mighty fine creative hair combing.
It made me sick watching the Crimson Tide's excellence on the field last night against a Michigan team that's expected to be a top-10 squad and a contender for the Big 10 title.
Alabama was supposed to be rebuilding its defense this year the wave of talent it sent to the NFL last year, but it looked as good if not better than last year's national title unit. Their offensiveline just mauled Michigan. Lacy, who is Bama's most experienced and supposedly best back, was third in rushing last night. The Crimson Tide is just loaded. It's almost unfair. I already feel sorry for my Razorbacks who have to play them on Sept. 15.
Somebody give me a tissue. I have some dust in my eyes.
