        Was that the same guy?

Giant Gonzalaz (i think) was the guy Ted Turner brought in to play for the Atlanta Hawks but it didnt work out because he couldnt dribble. He ended up trying to put him in WCW back when he owned it. Large but couldnt wrestle either.

I'm going with The Varsity Club. I believe they were late 80s. I know they had guys like Kevin Sullivan,Mike Rotundo(IRS for you WWF fans) and Rick Steiner.

                    My favourites were:

                    Andre the Giant
                    The Ultimate Warrior
                    British Bulldog (Davey Boy Smith)
                    Roddy Piper
                    Machoman Randy Savage

I used to like the tag team events my favourites in that were,Bret Hart and Jim the Anvil Neidhart and The Bushwackers but I think The Bushwackers came into it in the late 80's

Good call. I liked when Rick started with Scott to. (always hated Big Pappa Pump) though.

                              Kamala
                              The Rock - n - Roll Express
the "Rat Pack" of Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Ted Debiosi, and Dr. Death Steve Williams (bac when all three first started out)
                              Tony Atlas
                              Terry Taylor

Man, Cowboy Bill Watts' Mid South group was fantastic. So many went on to the WWF; Jake the Snake, Junkyard Dog, Butch Reed, All the otehr mentioned above with the exception of Mr. Wrestling #2 and Terry Taylor. As a kid I remember when they all started making the jump it seemed so odd because they all picked up a more flamboyant / cartoony gimmick.

Sadly I do believe my dumb *** accidentally deleted my clip with Hacksaw talking about his action figures. It was a great comment on how first and foremost they were not dolls as Butch Reed was kidding him while we were talking, and how cool it was for him to walk into a store with his daughters and them see them. I am so ****ed at myself right now its not even funny
I lived in Picayune, MS from 1983 - 1987. I was a Mid South Fanatic. Just an FYI, Terry Taylor did end up in WWF as the Red Rooster. Horrible gimmick.

Mine are as follows and mostly Mid South oriented

                              1) Hacksaw Jim Dugan
                              2) Nikita Koloff
                              3) Butch Reed
                              4) Magnum TA
                              5) Kerry Von Erich
(Honorable mention goes out too: Chris Adams)

                              Favorite Tag Teams:

                              1) Road Warriors (Hawk/Animal)
                              2) Rock N Roll Express
                              3) Midnight Express
                              4) Hart Foundation
                              5) The Mega Powers (Hogan/Savage)
(Honorable mention goes out too: The Von Erich's - Kerry & Kevin)

Yep, all the Von Erichs were great wrestlers.

Terry Taylor was not only the Red Rooster, he was also a successful booker in WCW for many years.

The Midnight/Rock n' Roll express fueds are some of the best i can remember.
