This show was made in England and has started to run on Adult Swim Sundays at 1:30 am.
Welcome to the Official Garth Marenghi website
The show is actually a fictional show within a show.
Darkplace is a fictional show from England's Channel 4 from the 1980's by fictional bookwriter Garth Marenghi (played by comedian Matthew Holness). Garth has the ego of Harlan Ellision and the talent of Ed Wood and is convinced that his show is a lost classic that bears rediscovering. The show itself aims to lampoon cheesy 80's sci-fi shows with terrible special effects, acting and ripping off everything from The Twilight Zone To Planet Of The Apes.
At the beginning of the show there is an introduction from Garth. He usually starts by reading a passage from one of his books as if he's reading the word of God. He then sets up the episode and tells about how during the show they will break in with modern day interviews with the cast and crew (usually only Garth and "producer/actor" in the show Dean Lerner) to comment on it.
It's funny to have them comment on the "genius" of some of the addle brained scenes in the show.
