Pretty excited for tonight's second episode as it stops by the small town next to mine where my parents actually live called Bryson City NC. And they also hit Asheville where my best friend lives. I wish i knew he was here when he filmed. Can't wait to see if it's people i actually know.

They had an interview on the news with the guy. He said he loved the area. Of course he wasn't going to say anything bad since he was promoting the show.Comment

Just watched both, not that impressed.
The whole focus seemed to be what he could flip each toy for, yeah, the subject of the show,
buy why would the "collectors" of the show sell him stuff at prices that would allow him to double his money - makes no sense.

Well i can at least say it is mostly real. The house in Bryson city belongs to the sister of someone who at one time was a very close friend. We actually were roommates for 2 years back in the mid 90's. I about passed out when christy appeared on my tv. I know her and her husband very well. I never knew she horded like that. Never mind that her house is falling apart. So i called John after the show as i still have his number. He told me that the dude didn't plant anything, and it was straight up. I still can't believe it was his sister. Other than the joy of watching stuff filmed in my backyard, i didn't care for these 2 shows as much as the first one in January. I thought he was really low balling what he found.Comment

Yeah, the show held no water for me. The collections and collectors were anything but impressive. And I didn't buy for a second that those "rare" items weren't planted.. I felt no connection between the owners and that stuff.
Is it me or does this guy look exactly like a grown-up Adam Rich?Comment

Don't say anything bad about this guy over at Rebelscum.com! I did and I was nearly banned. Granted, what I say was kind of foolishly harsh though.
First of all, I'd rather see them showing him buying low than getting silly and over priced.
What annoys me most is the unrealistic scenarios with how easy the sellers are and the hugging and all that nonsense. In reality, it's absolutely nothing like that. SOME people are that laid back, but most of the time buying is a stressful event.
Although there is plenty of people who sell for 50% less, especially if they have an overwhelming amount they want to get rid of. Some people just don't have the time to research and part out an entire childhood worth of toys.

This was one of the most aggravating shows i've ever watched, the "assistant" part was hilarious....yeah,im just sitting around your garage in this outfit looking like this sorting your toys.....i've been at this 25 years but i have never heard of a "bumblejumper",kinda funny he knew to pick it out like it might be super rare tho! I know that this totally obscure one is worth $150 tho! I mean come on....It's cool to see the toys on tv,but the host of this show and the scripted parts ruin it for me....

I laughed at that too. I wish I had a hot red head at home just doing an inventory of my toys and sending me on leads. Shameless American Pickers rip-off. The format is exactly the same, only not as well done.
The guy is annoying because his enthusiasm seems to be an exaggerated put-on and it's as if he's just following some sort of "toy nerd" rule book.
Is this just jealousy on my part? Perhaps.
Can't blame the guy for being a savvy business man and a go getter. But underneath all that enthusiasm, I can't help but to think the underlying goal is to be a totally domineering force in this whole game. We all know this show IS going to get him into places we'd only dream of and he is the guy a lot of people will be going to, either to be on TV or just because of his visability.
BTW, one thing I laughed at is his calling NJ a "toy mecca". Something I always thought myself, due to all the CL postings with old toys and the amount of people who have contacted me though my want ad (including MANY from Toms River). I guess I have to there and do some digging of my own.Comment

Yes it's a straight up Knock off of pickers, so is Hollywood treasure but as a toy guy there is more stuff I can relate to on Toy Hunter. When bumblejumper came up I said to my 21 year old daughter what it was and what it's worth after the break she was like how do you know that? I had to honestly answer "because I am a collector"Comment

At least on Pickers when the guys come across an interesting item, they ask the owner about its origin, how they obtained it, etc. Not the case on this show.. oh, that's a rare pedal car that was only distributed "two per state"? How did YOU get it, good sir? Nope. Oh, that's raffle giveaway Huffy SW speeder-bike that you have buried in a filthy corner of your attic? Wow, so rare.. tell us how you were fortunate enuff to get this.. NOPE.Comment

Haven't seen the latest episode but I didn't mind the pilot.
The producers emailed me about possibly having them pay a visit, I'm far too shy for such things.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions
