Favorite piece(s) of furniture from your childhood home.

I have 2 fave pieces of furniture, and you can see at least one of them in almost every pic of me taken at home. (see Christmas photo page)

The first is a wall unit. This thing was IMMENSE. It was about 7' high and about 6 &1/2 ' wide. It included a B&W TV, a Full stereo, built-in speakers, bar, electric fireplace, and storage cabinet. For whatever reason, my mom always wanted me to stand in front of this thing for pics. And during the holidays, I'd BEG Mom to hook up the fireplace, (which was nothing more than a large piece or foil on a rotating cylinder behind an opaque fake log.)

The second was a Castro Convertible coffee table. This thing converted into a full dining table that could seat 8 people. This was a must have for the holidays. I saw one on Ebay once, but this was before I moved into the house I'm in now.

I wish I could post pics, but you can at least see the bar and fireplace from the wall unit in my pic on this site.

I had a cheap knockoff of the white swivel egg chair. I added a headphone jack and an extension cord to my Stereo. Used to sit in that thing and listen to Elton John, the Beatles, Who, Yes and my Favorite Emerson Lake & Palmer. Had it in a dormer nook in my room above the garage. (Along with red, white and blue shag carpet!
Too many toys. Not enough space!

I used to love our sideboard...it was a long wooden box on legs with cupboard doors, 2 on one side and 1 on the other and in the middle were shelves with a hidden record player under the enclosed top shelf.

We had this sectional couch that was long, flowery and ugly as crap that screamed 70s but it brings back special memories because I played with many a Mego there and read many comics on that thing. Here's a pic of me sitting on it reading something.

Has to be an old antique victorian high back bed that I remember holding the sheet with my fists and putting my knee up on the edge of the mattress to scale into it to sleep. It's still there and as beautiful as ever. It was promised to me years ago but I like it where it's at. Still in my original room in my parent's house.

I have to go with the two bean bag chairs I used as mountains that cornered in the POTA Village and Fortress.

Easy for me; my Grandfather's chair. I remember sitting on his knee and playing with my toys, megos included. I don't know how long he had it before I came along, I always remember him sitting in it when we came to visit. A square shaped boxy low to the floor black vinyl covered chair. Now my grandmother had it recovered in blue cloth after he died 20 years ago. My parents came by one day and were talking about family stuff. The chair was brought up. I said that I would like this chair after she passes on. The next weekend my Dad stopped by with the chair. He said my grandmother said go ahead and take it now. That was 3 years ago. I plan on having it recovered in black vinyl again soon.

                        Great thread
