Anybody else sick of Olympics ?

    Olympics this, Olympics that.

Turn the news on Olympics this, Olympics that.

Wanna watch a show, can't because the Olympics are on.
It's always something weird too ... like dwarf throwing

Anybody else sick of it all ?

Don't even watch em, never have, but here is something I thought interesting.
These poor people train for years to get a medal and if they are lucky enough to get gold the US pays them 25k .....Here is the kicker, they tax them on it! About 9k!!!
If anyone should be exempt I would say anyone representing our country fits the bill for sure!
Now I know for the athletes it's not really about the money, but unless you’re in events like gymnastics or swimming where endorsement deals are lucrative most of them are struggling financially......imo, cut em a break on the taxes.

I've never watched them either. I have zero interest in sports.

Love the Olympics, always have. Like all other sports it is a release from the constant day to day atrocities they hord the media.

It's non-stop here. Even our "culture channel" is showing about 12 hours of Olympics every day. Luckily, it doesn't last long. But then they start showing Grand Prix racing, golf, cycling. And you wouldn't want to miss a single minute of that.
And this means that every other program must move aside. So forget your favorite TV show, here's 8 hours of non-stop sports for ya!
Then the news has all the edited highlights. Then this is followed by the sports news.

I'm on a strict DVD diet these days...

I never even liked the old Hanna Barbera "Laff-a-lympics"

I appreciate the athletes talents and skills but honestly I find it a bore to watch. However if dwarf throwing were an event (great idea Mikey!) I might be more apt to set the DVR.

When we were in the cold war with the sov's I cared but that was 1986 so you can guess how long it's been since I cared. the reality is since the 90's and the explosion of the internet I have no idea why it's on. The worst thing is when my wive wants to watch the primetime replay. I just say it was posted on the net 5 hours ago if you want to see who won don't log onto MSN, CNN etc

And the split of summer winter so nbc gets to air every 2 years is even more annoying

Does not bother me at all, I just watch something else or slap in a DVD. It used to suck when i was a kid, though. We had 6 channels, 3 covered the Olympics and 3 depended on a coat hanger antenna.

I remember those days before my family got cable......saturdays and sundays were terrible because after cartoons it would be sports almost all day.
