    Oscar Pistorius

Double-amputee Oscar Pistorius raced in a heat for the 400 meter sprint at the London Olympics Friday, making history and more – finishing second to move on to the semifinal Sunday.

While most people are rooting for him...there are some who think he's running at an advantage.

    I HIGHLY disagree.

    IMO...here's why:

The Olympic committee looked over his case for years (after being turned down multiple times)...after extensive study...they concluded that he did not have any advantages over world class runners...what they did find out...that Oscar would indeed be competitive...but no world record beater.

For people still not accepting this ruling...

So how does that make him have an advantage over others?

The guy is just a gifted athlete who was dealt a low blow when he was a little bugger...and thanks to technology...and his natural talent...he achieved his goal to run in the Olympics.

He earned the right...let him run, Forest.

About an unfair advantage of technology argument. You see...technology...it doesn't just have to be about artificial limbs/springs, etc...other types of technology also has helped many modern athletes...you have natural supplements in the form of pills, capsules, powder, liquid...better diet...you have better tracks to practice on...better attire, equipment, etc...First World athletes already have a huge advantage over Third World athletes to begin with. How is that not an advantage? You think some poor Guatemalan or Madagascar kid have the necessary diet, environment, and supplements to compete with someone from USA or any other industrial power? Why not complain about that? That's where I think many critics are missing the point.

Look, if Oscar wins the Gold in world record time...then they might have a valid argument...but if the guy is just competitive without being a world killer...I think their points are for the most part...moot points.

What says the awesome Mego Museum peeps' masses?

P.S. Advantage or not...this is pretty amazing...and he makes some excellent valid arguments on his behalf...

Why is he the first one to achieve this?

Others with exactly the same handicap and equipment...have not be able to achieve what he has achieved.

I say let him run, and if he has any advantage at all, you look him in the eye and tell him its unfair that he is running. Life to him has been already more than unfair.I agree with you Hector this is what its all about, the drive, determination, and competition, the Olympic spirit.
