Wow, that medal is almost the size of her head!
I was watching a video of the last natiionals or something and she wasn't actually competeing ,but she was allowed to participate,
and she was scoring higher than the national champ and winner of the event. they knew she would do great here.
    Way to go kid!!!!!

With a little more experience and strength next time around she is going to be unstoppable. We may be looking at a person who can challenge Phelps record.

I'm afraid not, gymnasts have very short prime careers, the vast majority of them only compete in one Olympics. Women's gymnastics are for young and petitte girls, in four years, Gabby will be 20 years old, too old for modern world class top level competition (it used to happen in the old days, but the sport was very different back then).

The one who might eventually beat Phelp's medal record someday, is going to be another swimmer, lol.

The past two (maybe three) Olympics the entire women's team has been "Olympic rookies". Gymnasts are typically one and done. I heard today she signed with Proctor & Gamble for $10 mil in endorsements...

Yea she was great, with that smile and personality you can't help but root for her...I gotta admit I though the Russian took her in the last event, she did the floor flawlessly but in the end Gaby was more consistent

and I knew the other Russian was done when she screwed up and her coach came to hug her and she pushed him away , I think judges see that crap and get annoyed

yea she could be competing in the next 3 and still won't have a shot...Gymnast just don't last as long anymore

Agreed. It also seems like you almost have to be 16 or 17 to really have a chance. 18 is almost too old to compete.
