I have been overcharged for shipping many times. I pick my battles like you, a lot of sellers are very reasonable and others are not. Sometimes I get the story about their time of standing in line at the post office, the gas to the post office, etc. As others have said, he was upfront with shipping and maybe you receive a better deal on the item itself because bidders took the high shipping into consideration."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."

With the poor packaging, it's a miracle the statue wasn't damaged....

Yeah, $18.00 is a kick in the nuts for sure. I would ask him how come the price only says that on the label and see what he comes back with. Did that price account for tracking and insurance? There might be some hidden costs that doesn't show on the label. If he can't give you a good answer, I would grade down on the shipping side and file a complaint with Ebay. That's alot of money to be off that much.Comment

Honestly if it's somthing I really wanted I move on and forget it but it bothers me too much I'll email the seller and ask about getting a little back. Usually get no reply but every now and then I'll get something back.Comment

That's totally out of line to over charge by that much. I agree that you went into thing knowing what the charge was but if I pay a price for shipping I expect most of that amount to actually go to the shipping cost within a few dollars. As a seller I tend to over estimate the weight a little bit just so I don't lose anything by adding delivery comfirmation but at most it's only a few cents that's left over. I recently sold 2 items to the same person and sent them an invoice with combined shipping but when they paid they paid seperate shipping for each item - I refunded then the difference ( $2.10 out of $5.60 ) just to be fair. If the seller doesn't refund you anything then bieng overcharge THAT much is reason to contact ebay and see what happens, leaveing negative feedback and 0 stars is always an option. Normally I don't believe in leaving negative feedback because of the shipping charge ( you know what you are paying when you bid ) but you shouldn't be charged more then double the actually shipping cost.Comment

Do you have their return mailing address? If so just start signing them up for those " bill me later " magazine subscribtions. Just the sheer joy of the crap they will be getting in the mail should make you feel better.Find some freaky things to sign them up for too.Make the mailman go " oh my lord my are they getting that?"Comment

meh. I try not to get too concerned about seller's shenanigans too much, as long as I know the full price beforehand.
Maybe the percentage of shipping costs is less than end item (I haven't checked yet to be sure), or he thought he'd fool buyers into thinking his was cheaper than other people (when really it's the same because of shipping) by having the end price lower.
It's really easy to report them nowadays (although I'm too lazy to look up the link), and I'd definitely leave a neutral or a positive where you say you got the item, but shipping was high, and rate low shipping stars.
I still see sellers with high shipping nowadays, and they're really not fooling people into thinking it's cheaper. If anything, they're just causing bad will with customers. Shame!Comment

Update*** I had written to the seller just telling him about the shipping difference, I wasn't rude or asked for anything back just let him know..and he replied with "No worries I'll take care of it" and today he refunded $14 which was really cool of him...That's how sellers should be, he was really fair and super cool about it..His Id is Mego700, I highly recommend him"Time to nut up or shut up"-Tallahassee
