what do you do if you get over charged shipping on ebay?

I usually don't bother cause it's usually just a few bucks, I won a statue on ebay shipping said $49.99 which I knew there was no way in hell cause I had just bought another one a few days before, I tried emailing the seller first but got no response and I really wanted the statue but figured it could've been a mistake...After I win it (at a nice price) I ask again nicely and he sends me the invoice with $32 shipping which was nice, that's exactly what the other cost to get to me priority mail..So I thanked him for doing that..Today I get the package, inside 2 boxes taped with no shipping material used at all and the shipping was only $14, that's an $18 difference man, seems like a bit much to me...I'd let it go if it was $3-$5 but $18?

I wrote an email 5 minutes ago, am I being cheap? or would you guys have asked for some back? times are tough man, $18 is a family meal at KFC

I think some sellers charge so much for shipping to increase the price of the item.I have asked before on items that were so high, and been told" my time isn't free" In the 5 star feedback area just rate them poorly, thats all you can really do I think.Sorry man.

I got nothing refunded either, gave the seller a Nutral Feedback I believe.

If i'm right, didn't ebay actually start cracking down on this? I think you can actually file a claim for excessive shipping cost. And i would certainly say you qualify.

You can give them a low star rating in the feedback section.
You can pm him and try to get some money back.
Or give him a neutral feedback and say something like "overcharged me $18 on a total of $32 shipping".

Or you can post his address here, and ask a member living in that area to take his rottweiler over there and take a massive sh*t on the guy's lawn. I mean the dog of course...

These days, they play a very clever game. Sometimes I get packages that just say "postage paid" and mention no amount at all. Impossible to know how much they actually paid.

I always view shipping as part of the item's total cost, and I don't care how it breaks down...as long as it's disclosed up front. Presumably, the ending price would've been higher in your auction if shipping were listed as $15, so I'd argue that you're not really getting ripped off.

I've had this happen to me. My item cost $7.95 and charged me $30.00. This is why sellers are getting screwed by eBay anymore, because of sellers like this.

I say if he doesn't get back to you and refunds the difference of the shipping, leave him negative feedback.

I sold 2 items to someone who didn't ask for combined shipping and then paid quick with both shipping charges . I sent out the items and they got them fine.
Days later they noticed the shipping actual cost was only half what they paid. then they threated my to give them a refund. when i didn't they didn't just give me no stars about shipping.
But rather 2 negatives and just complaints about me trying to make extra money. Never mind the fact they got thier items in quick fine shape.
I reported them to ebay who removed the negatives from my account.

I always ask about combined shipping Before i bid or win at least. But don't give negatives unless you didn't get the items in good condition.

If I buy multiple items and the person does not combine I tell them I better get them in separate packages ...I mean in your case the items should be getting there in fine shape regardless of what the person payed, it's a little messed up for someone to pocket half the shipping

As most of you know eBay charges to list an item, charges when the item sells and then PayPal (owned by eBay) takes a piece as well when the buyer receives payment on the item, making it harder and harder to make a profit on whatever someone is selling. Some sellers feel to make up for this they should charge ridiculous shipping costs, of course this as well is wrong but at least you have all the info you need up front to make an educated purchase. Yeah it sucks, but that’s just the way it is. He was nice enough to come down on his initial high shipping costs and did not have to so I really can’t see leaving anything but positive feed back with a note on his high shipping or just don’t leave any feedback and don’t make any future purchases from that individual.

Everyone has to pay those ebay fee's so that should'nt be an excuse, I don't over charge people just cause I have to pay fee's , and it's against ebay rules to over charge on shipping to make a profit and skip ebay fee's...I would've gladly kept my mouth shut if he had at least put effort into shipping this thing or at least insure it now that you've over charged by so much...It really depends on the reply I get, But I highly doubt it'll be a positive feedback if nothing is refunded but that's just me
