Something I never knew about Freddie Mercury....

One of my favorite bands from the seventies and eighties is Queen and until today I had no idea what a good artist Freddy Mercury was:

Check out his Jimmy Hendrix! http://www.mercury-and-queen.com/fmqfreddieart.htm

I thought you were going to write that his nickname was "The Flute"

Nice! Freddie was one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) front men who ever lived.

Whatever happened to that Sasha Baron Cohen biopic?

Wish he was still with us. The concert footage ive seen of him is amazing. Queen is/was one of those bands that is worth every penny seeing live.

Some of you might dispute this but.... I think hes a better singer than Elton John or George Micheal!

I thought you were going to write that his nickname was "The Flute"
I wonder if those who followed the band even from its early days didnt know?

I always heard he was an art school student. It's nice to finally see some of his art.

The Cohen thing was an internet rumor. From what I read Brian May and Mercury's family really don't think Cohen is right for the part or if they even want his story in film. They were very hesitant on the idea. Personally, I can't think of another human being more perfectly suited to play him other that Cohen. Mercury was a vocal freak of nature. All of the backing vocals were done by him on album. Even the major choruses on Bohemian were all him, he vocalized every note. Even the devil put aside for me line was all him. He was truly a one man choir. I never really liked their music, but he has my ultimate respect as a musician.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

Queen is my favorite band of all times...and Mercury the greatest frontman in my humble opinion.

Was lucky enough to see Queen twice in the early 80s...my all time favorite concerts.

Brian May is also a genius...the guy is scary smart.

If you search for the torrent "Bohemian Rhapsody With Audacity" you'll find track masters for the song with 24 separate tracks - drums, bass, lead guitar, 2x Freddie vocals, 2x piano, separate backing vocals, etc. Using Audacity you can switch parts of the song off and on at will. It's quite interesting.

That's Brian May, Roger Taylor and Freddie Mercury doing backing vocals, as they did on most tracks requiring it.

May is also a huge SW fan. Another bonus!
His guitar work is phenomenal. My favorite part is in Princes of the Universe, where he plays a solo that moves at 200 miles per hour!
I love Mercury, he was the ultimate performer, but I also love the other band members, who wrote many of Queen's greatest hits.
Can you imagine it's been 20 years since Freddy died?
