It's really had an effect. I work at the movies. We expected it to be crazy busy for the Dark Knight. It wasn't.

I think Chris Nolan says it perfectly:
"I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families."Last edited by Operation:Mego; Jul 21, '12, 12:46 PM.sigpic

They are really going overboard on the news coverage. They just keep talking about the same information over and over again. I usually keep a mini television tuned in to CNN (im a avid news watcher) and I cant stand anymore of it. I think its really BAD journalism to keep reporting that way. There important events taking place around the world that deserve some of the attention.
I havent gone to the movies in years. I usually just wait for dvd releases. I havent even seen the new spidey yet. Its making me want to go to the movies!Comment

I bought our pre tickets a couple days ago for an 11:45am show out of town at a mega screen.
My wife, my son, daughter and her boyfriend.
Then the tragedy happened....
Well, no sense in canceling our trip, but it certainly had a cloud over it.
I tried not to talk abut the shooting in front of the family much, didn't want them to think I was über concerned...when I really was more alert to my surroundings then normal.
The mega screen was only maybe half full...very low attendance.
During the pre show stuff, the audience was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop...nobody talking...nobody on their phones...
I was finally able to let my guard down and enjoy the show...and it is an amazing piece of film...this guy could have cried twice...yup.
As the credits rolled, the place filled filled with applause.
Spirits were not broken, but there was this unspoken appreciation for safety.Comment

It really hit me and my wife today as we went to see a different movie, the place hired an armed police officer to work security. I have to say, that was the 1st time i ever went to see a movie with security like that. It really smacked us both in the face.Comment

Never miss an opportunity to tell your family you love them and keep enjoying life.
Very unfortunate to have this tragedy, but it is important for people to continue to live their lives and keep doing things that they enjoy.
seeing movies are included.Comment
