Shooting during The Dark Knight Rises screening

Just found out and that's exactly how I feel.

The thought of the excitement in the air and young kids staying up late to see a movie they've waited all summer for only for this to happen. I heart goes out the family and loved ones of the those victims.

I feel so sick, angry and sad.

That guy is going to get the chair for sure. His madness is over. But he's not stopping me from attending a theater. Forget just the Dark Knight. Every time a big film in our genre opens, this idiot will be mentioned in the media with a bunch of "what ifs" attached. That maniac permanently changed the lives of so many people last night. I will not allow him to change mine. I can't wait to see him fry. Those poor innocent lives wiped out. Just heart breaking.

I doubt that. Theaters will just hire guards, place walk-thru metal detectors at the entrances, and raise the ticket price.

None of that would really help tho. If someone is bound and determined to hurt people for whatever crazy reason, they will find a way. Just like this sad fellow.

Supposively this guy has a sophisticated device in his apartment. If this guy was intelligent enough to figure out how to do such a thing, why couldnt he use it for something that does society some good?

One of my thoughts is: why would he pick a Batman screening?

He picked a Batman screening because he knew it would be a packed theater. No doubt, he had this planned for months, probably had the theater picked out, completed a couple of run throughs to find out what security was like, if exit doors were unlocked from the outside, etc.

... What are odds that she goes through the awful experience of the shooting in Toronto's Eaton centre, only to be ome a victim in a similar public shooting a couple of months later? My spouse and I were actually across the street at the theatre during the eaton centre shooting and had opted not to eat in the eaton centre food court that afternoon. A couple of weeks later there is a shooting on the block where my school is in little Italy.

This week there were shootings three days in a row in my city. We're just not used to this. Some are saying the heatwave just makes people crazier.

TV news said a lot of people were dressed up in costumes for this showing, and that's how he got through security. How did he get an automatic weapon in there?
It reminds me of conventions. You see a lot of guys dressed up in Stargate uniforms, with replica weapons. I always think "what if someone brings a real gun inside? He could even paint the tip orange, to fool everyone?"

this guy was obviously very intelligent, he was working on a phd in neuro science. news reports said his apartment is booby trapped and they had to evacuate 5 buildingsx while they disarm everything,

We 'normal' folks can never truly understand the mind of a lunatic such as this. How incredibly tragic. The sickest part to me is that this guy will now linger in the justice system for a ridiculous amount of time before he is served 'justice'. I use that term extremely loosely because what is justice for a crime such as this? Instant fame and celebrity for the scumbag shooter and the media dissecting and regurgitating the story over and over? All the while the victims will forever be nameless in the public eye.

While we the public should be aware of these things, to turn it into the "talk of the day / week/ month etc..." and a political football is just terrible to me beyond words. IMO it has the potential to inspire other lonely, depressed, insecure lunatics who too want their moment of infamy.

My heart weeps for the families, community and the extremely large circle that is connected with each of the victims. And to clarify that EVERYONE in that theater was a victim not just the dead and wounded. It's a damn shame that going to a movie can be the cause for post traumatic stress disorder for everyone there for the rest of their lives. Damn.

Early info says he bought a ticket, waited during the film and then feigned a phone call. He went out an exit but left the door wedged open. They think he went ot his car to retrieve the weapons and then entered through the exit door. Of course, this info may change.

Also just got a release from the AMC movie chain that they may disallow masks or costumes that "make people feel uncomfortable." The shooting happened in a Cinemark theater, but I've seen nothing similar from them.
