Yesterday, rodents chewed through some wires on our air conditioner and it caught on fire. Now, I am a hot woman. No,...not supermodel hot; I think 65 degrees is hot; that kind of hot. I have to wait for the insurance check and then the wait for a new, much in demand, air conditioner. It is 8:30 a.m. and my living room is 92 degrees already. So, here I am lying with my laptop on the semi-cool, concrete basement floor. When you read in the news that a Michigan woman has spontaneously combusted,.......

Ack - You have my complete sympathy. Yesterday was BRUTAL. I've set up my office so I'm less than two feet away from my window a/c.

Hubby's day job is in construction and he called in a few favors. Someone he knows is coming out this afternoon with parts to try and get us a temporary fix. With this heat spell, there are NO window units to be had at all. His friend said there is a back order about two weeks on residential AC units. If we cannot get it fixed, I will get someone to drive me up to the cabin and swipe the window unit from there.

Sorry for the discomfort. My wife's family is from Michigan and she likes the house cool. Me, I'm weird. To me it's not summertime until it is 80+.

The weather in Belgium is so awful, we don't need AC. Very few houses have that here.
