Can you believe it's been 27 years since the Live Aid Concert...

Can you believe it's been 27 years since the Live Aid Concert in 1985??!!?? I remember discussing going to Philly with my brother and a few of his friends...but we decided to stay home. UK got the better of the live show.

Queen at their finest...Freddy just commands the audience:

    U2 at probably their finest:

    Man, time really flies.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

    - "Isn't It A Pity"
    By George Harrison

I think I have some VHS on it myself. The problem with the DVD set is that the Led Zepplin re-union is either not on it or is not the entire performance. What they should have done is done 2 sets...one of the US performances and one set of the UK performances. Put out the entire show because you know it was all recorded. Either way though, McCartney's performance of "Let It Be" would still be missing the sound in the 1st minute of the performance. I think they had some technical difficulties.

What an event. i tried to get tickets but could not. I am actually glad because the best seat in the house was my living room. I was around 23 at the time, woke up at 6 am and started drinking. Had a case of beer myself that day. This was a much better event than the original Woodstock. At Woodstock, at the time, most of the bands were relitivly new in 1969. it was the first time CSN&Y ever played together, Jimi, Janis, Jefferson Airplane, CCR and Grateful Dead had only been out 2 yrs or less at that time. At Live Aid we got to see the best living artists still alive at that point in history. If John Lennon were alive in 1985, I could only "Imagine" what might have been.

Would love to have the whole thing on blu-ray now, especially the Zepplin stuff. I remember being a big Phil Collins fan at the time. U2 was just coming onto my radar. Think I was a junior in high school.

I had to look up what this was. I sort of remember it now.

Unfortunately that will likely never happen. When the Live Aid DVD set was in the making, the remaining members refused to allow the LZ footage to appear because they weren't happy with their rather sub-par performance. They felt very strongly about that, and instead donated some of the proceeds from the sales of their own (different) DVD release to make up for it.
