If Parise was as classy as they say, he would have stayed in NJ where he was a god and had his number retired in the rafters one day right along with Brouduer. And maybe won a Cup or two along the way. The deal is a huge splash for the Wild right now but thats a lot of money to be giving to two players. Good luck finding the supporting cast to help them and they're really in a bind if one of them goes down. There is a cap after all and Minnesota just blew their load on two guys. Also, all this talk of "playing closer to home" is total crap when they make enough cash to own their own jet and fly home whenever they want. When Roger Clemens was a Yankee, he flew home for 3 days every time after he pitched so I don't want to hear that he did it to be home. And I know NHL players don't make baseball money but Parise has done more than alright for himself. Zach has just earned bum status right along Scotty Gomez and Jamie Langenbummer. Look what happened to Gomez's career after he chased the cash. Although Zach didn't go so far as to sign with the Rangers, I wish him the same fate as Gomez. Also screw Suter for not wanting to play in the Eastern Conference. NJ made an offer to him and he turned it down cause it's the East. I guess he didn't want to play in the tougher league. Zach Parise, you are dead to me.

Parise gave Jersey all the time to try and keep him home bud. Minnesota still has a ton of money to sign more players as they were one of the lowest payrolls last year. And i disagree totally with the sour grapes about a player wanting to play closer to where he grew up. It's not all about him being rich enough to fly home when he wants to. Not sure if you know just how much it cost to own your own jet. But that's secondary. It's about him being closer to family and friends who can now watch him play more than before. You know your my hockey homie but that post really sounds a bit ****y. Parise didn't do anything thousands of other players have done before him. He didn't diss Jersey in any way on his way out. And from what i have heard, he was offered more money by at least 3 other teams but he picked his home state. And there has been tons of players that have come and gone from my favorite team the Hurricanes. I don't wish ill will on any of them. One of my all time favorites and a big part of the cup winning team was justin williams. I was very happy to see him hoist that cup when LA won. In todays professional sports you don't see many players playing for just one team anymore. I think to spite a guy cause he went somewhere else is to forget all the good he did for you when he was there. And seriously my friend, he never said a bad word about Jersey and kept them in the running longer than anyone even thought. I commend him for turning down higher offers for the chance to be closer to home and family and friends he grew up with.
And i have heard some real good talk about Carolina working a trade with Columbus for Nash. They know he will be gone next year so he is going to go somewhere. With the Canes making a huge deal for Jordan Staal, Nash would look good in the Red and Black. That's Carolina Red and Black. Also heard they are trying to get Semin as well.
Here's my point...if you turn down more money but leave the team your associated with for convenience, it's just as bad as taking the cash. When you're an athlete, you've got one shot at forever. It's one of the greatest chances a person gets at immortality and everything you do, will ultimately be evaluated when all is said and done. The ones that can stay with the team their entire career are a special breed and cut from a different cloth than those that don't. Derek Jeter winning a World Series is more special than A-Rod because Jeters been with one team his entire career. A-Rod's bounced around. Lebron got his ring this year in Miami but look at the scrutiny he came under because he ditched his original team and went to a place where he thought he could win. That title takes on a completely different shape if he stays in Cleveland and wins with the Cavs. Parise has his whole life to be home and be with his family. He's maybe got 10 years as a great player. 15 years total. He didn't say anything bad about NJ but his actions are enough for me. He had a chance to do something really special with one team and be immortalized forever with that team and while he didn't leave for money or on bad terms, he left for convenience and to me that's just as bad. Now if NJ won this year I may feel different but he left his team (of which he's the Captain of no less) out to dry and I cannot commend that. I loved Parise but I thought he was above doing the right thing for the here and now and doing the right thing for his legacy which I feel he's wrecked by leaving the team that he should have stayed with. If this sounds like sour grapes, to some extent it is but at least I'm consistent with ripping athletes that do this. To me this is just a bad a decision as Andy Petite made when he left the Yankees do be closer to home and go play with the Astros. Look how that turned out for him! Prior to that, Petite was one of my favorites but after he left and even when he came back, I've go no use for the guy. 11/11/12 The Wild play the Devils at the Rock. It'll be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets.

I can see we won't agree on this one. But why the heck should he stay in Jersey. Just because they drafted him? I personally don't think any one player is better than another because they stay with one team. Jeter isn't a fair comparison cause he was a yankee fan as a kid. Granted a dumb kid. Sorry im ****ed you guys beat us tonight. But Sean i can understand your being upset with Parise. It would have been nice if he stayed if i was a devils fan. Being a Hurricane and Flyers fan i'm glad they went out west. Cya...lol This is the point of the year i hate. 100 degree heat and no hockey for almost a month now. Time to start waching some of the junior world championships i have recorded, and the frozen 4. I'm such a hockey addict.
