    >the more science discovers / uncovers the more terrified i become.

EVERYTHING has a risk. Crossing the street has a risk, and if you never took that chance as a kid you'd never have left your home.

'Course.... sometimes that risk involves wiping out all humanity, so your concern is most assuredly NOT unfounded. I think the key point to remember is that the problems with new science aren't inherent to the science itself, but to the weakness of the human character.

Well, humans make weapons - humans kill each other - and to my thinking that's been going on WAY before we invented science.

            >Exactly my point.

Well.... I donno. People do all sorts of stupid stuff, but sometimes they do something great.... and we do have an innate curiosity, so I think there's a tradeoff to be had here. Civilization has ALWAYS been a precarious balance; one step forward, one back. I say enjoy the ride.

            >Let me know when they finally figure out how to make cars that become suitcases.

They have those now. It requires an auto-wrecker, and the car doesn't unfold again but hey; no process is perfect!

            >I have no idea what it means

            This might help:

We dabbled in this sort of thing when I was at the U; but that was 15+ years ago, so a lot of what I knew has already been outdated.

Very, very cool stuff. We live in an awesome time for science.

One thing is for certain, writers are scrambling to pepper this info into one-liners in season 6 of The Big Bang Theory.

Yeah, and I gotta say - from what I understand this is one of the most globally collaborative projects in human history. To me, this is one of the purest and most nobel things we're doing as a species. Not to get all drippy about it or anything.

....until the aliens invade, and we have to unite against them:
