We had a Dickie Dee man. No truck, just a weird fridge on a bike, and the bike rider rang a bell thingy on the handle bars. Haven't seen one in years.

The last time I saw an actual ice-cream truck was some time in the 90s, when it used to stop by the local grade school after school. I still miss the days of the Mister Softee trucks, w/ real soft serve cones. Ahh...memories. Now all I see are the guys w/ the push carts, tooling around the lake w/ the pre-fab ice-cream bars and popsicles. It's just not the same."Do you believe, you believe in magic?

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

But the authentic Paletero cart should mostly have ice pop's made out of real fresh fruit (and some have very exotic ingredients)...some of the ones here in America have those mediocre things you mentioned...you should try the ones in Mexico.
Those guys work hard...they walk basically an entire marathon everyday...and many get robbed...it's a hard low-paid job...
