I agree, the original was kinda stupid. If only the bad guys thought to run up to the second floor.

I hadn't thought of it before, but there were a LOT of car shows in the 80's.... Are you maybe thinking of "The Highwayman?" The truck turned into a helicopter too. Sort of.
