Heath Ledger...in the PATRIOT.... carried out one of the best acting jobs
I've ever seen...the JOKER is my favorite comicbook hero/villain next to
SUPERMAN...so I'm eagerly awaiting his portrayal of the JOKER
          sadly it is his last

Wow. I'm stunned. I wonder what this will do for the fortunes of the next Batman film? I sure with the conceptualized Joker, Warner Bros was going to have Heath doing alot of press for the film. The question now is does his death generate more interest or hurt the project?

I am terribly let down. Ledger was perhaps the greatest actor of his up-and-coming generation. Brokeback Mountain convinced me of this. He was so young; we've lost another 40+ years of unique and revelatory performances. I admired and respected him deeply, and I'm so sorry to see him pass.

For those who don't know him, Heath was on the TV show Roar, played Mel Gibson's son in The Patriot, starred in A Knight's Tale, was in BB Mountain (for which he won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar) and portrayed the Joker in the as-yet-unreleased Batman: The Dark Knight.

I just read the news and am shocked.

He definitely was one of those actors who had outstanding performances in The Patriot, Knight's Tale, and Brokeback Mountain and also thought he was one of the 20 something actors who had potential staying power in Hollywood.

I always get stunned when I hear of someone famous who is younger than me passing away.

The weekend that Ledger was announced as playing The Joker, I watched Casanova and Brokeback Mountain. Two pretty diverse roles. Both performances convinced me individually that the man's talent was immeasurable. But considering it was the same guy was atounding. I feel the acting community has lost a true talent.
Of all the souls I have encountered his was the most...human.

Sounds like another case of young celebrity stupidity. (Too much money, too much adulation and 2 many crazy paparazi invading your space. Has got to drive you crazy!)

I hope he has found peace now.

The associated press is already writing Britney spears obituary. Sad state of celebs today.
Too many toys. Not enough space!

Thought he was brillant in The Lords of Dogtown. Still hard to believe.

                                Wow, sad news indeed.
Gonna be weird watching The Dark Knight and realizing he's already dead
