The"Share an Artist You Just Discovered" Thread

There's just so many great, original artists that go undiscovered out there, Thought we should have a thread for art geeks like myself to share artists we like and/or artists that are maybe new or unherald etc. etc.

Just heard of this guy, Kostas Seremeti, he has some cool comic book style mash-ups that make no sense but for some reason I'm falling out of my chair laughing at some of them. I was full blown laughing out loud at Hendrix but completely lost it at Frida. I dunno, maybe not for everybody, but I figured if I enjoy it there must be others.

A new friend of mine named Stella Cade is a recent art school grad. She does really interesting and bizarre portraits:

Kostas Seremetis' work reminds me of this cover for RAW vol.2 no.1. (sorry I can't find a better scan) This is also one of my favorite Gary Panter pieces:

Along similar lines I think Michael DeForge's work is fantastic. He's a local illustrator/comic artist/pop artist/surrealist. He also works on the animated show "Adventure Time".

His work is cute, disturbing, beautiful and grotesque all at the same time to me:

Daniel Dorell is an amazing local artist. He makes intricate sort of maze dioramas.

Here's a link to his site:

                  Whoa! Check this out!

                  Jason Freeny:

I've actually seen a lot of artists depicting cartoons as skeletons, but I'm remembering that MAD magazine did this a long time ago to comic strip characters. I can't find a scan online though.

One of the things I use Facebook for is to follow and discover new artists. I've been following Jason for about the past 6 months or so, he posts a lot of updates of WIP. I've got to see this particular one from start to finish. My favorite of his has got to be the 2 foot Kewpie though.

obviously this one isn't the two footer, but he has done some larger versions of his stuff.
