Two Minute Warning (1976) TV version vs. the theatrical version

There is a semi remembered movie from 1976 called Two Minute Warning, starring Charlton Heston.

The movie lives on as bring one of the most notorious examples of movies that were radically altered for Network TV showings.

The original, as it stood was about a lone, unidentified sniper hiding out at a football stadium billboard intending to open fire at the game.

The network apparently felt that theme was unsutable for prime time broadcast. The answer? Pay for an extensive reshoot that concocts a subplot of the sniper being there to only scare and cause a riot to draw attention away from an nearby art heist he is a part of. This mostly had a whole new cast but they did get Chuck himself to film a couple new scenes. The details are in the blog. I sent the guy the copy of the TV version he used for the research.

Always enjoy comparing the differences between theatrical versions and TV broadcast versions of movies.
Especially when there are added and/or substituted scenes, subplots, etc.
