Faux Miniature Photography - Tilt/Shift editing

This is something I have recently learned and figured a lot people here would enjoy doing it. It is pretty simple. You make a regular photography look like a miniature. Google "tilt shift image", some of those images are unbelievable

Here is one I just finished, taken from atop a gandala ride at local theme park

Here is the original unedited image

That's so cool. What do you need to do this?

Cool. Not as good as yours, but here's the night view from the ferris wheel at Sydney's Luna Park...

If you don't have Photoshop, you can use Gimp (its free)

I think yours is better than mine (or could be if you cropped it in about 1/2). Maybe since we know what our images originally look like, we don't care for our own TS. I had a lot of people say mine is awesome, but I do not see it.

I have seen this. You digitally throw the foreground and background out of focus for the effect.

I found this site this evening. It's a lazy-man's way of doing it.

Transform your photos into tilt-shift style miniatures

It is so easy, I could make one in about 30 secs, faster than uploading it to that site

Thanks for posting! I had never heard of this, but that is a very cool effect.

I googled for more examples, and I still think your fairgrounds shot is one of the best ones I've seen.

This digital tilt shift technique is REALLY cool when used in video:
