Am I the ONLY one who doesn't want to use PAYPAL?

Ah....I remember the joyful days of bidding or buying on Ebay. Checks, money orders, well concealed cash (no lectures, I've never had a problem), and positive ratings. Now it seems that Ebay is my nemesis. I can't get anything anymore. Rare Shaun Cassidy stuff, toys...all beyond my grasp. I'm debt free and loving it! Why oh why can't I just use my freakin' debit card? My money is good! Curse you Paypal *shaking my fist in the air* I HATE YOU!!

Nope...you're not the only one. My post mego meet lists in the marketplace will be money order and checks only. I will do installment plans for those who are going to buy bigger ticket items. Overseas or Canadian buyers will be the only ones that will be able to use Paypal.

Paypal has become too much of a hassle IMHO.

As a seller I hate it, they're a rip and half but as a buyer it's awesome

As a buyer it's fast and easy to make the payment - although I never minded sending a MO.

As a seller I'd LOVE to be able to list that I accept checks & MO's but ebay is a (p)rick about that.

Just a note - you can use a debit card through Paypal.

For me, it's the only way to pay for stuff from the US.
And believe me, those that know me from the early days might remember how I hated paypal and swore I would never sign up. But in the end, there just is no other way for me

As a buyer, I love Paypal. I don't have to go buy a money order, mail it off and wait a few days for the seller to get it. Also, there is a risk of the check/money order never making it to the seller. I also like the protection Paypal offers as a buyer.

Now, as a seller, I don't care for it as much. The buyer can use that protection to say they never got an item and get their money back, so it's one of those double edge sword kind of things. I also hate the fees as a seller.

I just wish it wasn't mandatory and people could chose the payments they want.

Doesn't bother me. I recently had something listed Ebay, it within in a hour it sold and I was paid via PP. The charge was like $1.50 for $55 sale. Reasonable enough for me for having the money immediately. I'm sure buyers are also happy because any seller worth his/her salt will pack up and ship the item within a day or two after being paid, so the buyer gets their item faster. That said they should give people at least one alternate way to pay.

What can I do about it? nothing

As they always say. "Where else are you going to go?"

Might as well deal with it and move on.

will a pre-paid visa work with paypal? You avoid the "debt" and still have the convience of paypal.

They take money directly from your checking account. How does that cause debt anymore than a debit card?

                        Love pay pal

So quick and their buyer protection program is awesome.

Writing a check, money order is so yesterday.

I remember sending cash through the mail many years ago. Too funny

As a buyer, I will only use Paypal. I like the convenience of paying the seller immediately while enjoying the protection in case the seller goes south on me. As a seller, I have never had a problem (knock on wood) because I track any item I sell, which is my stake in making sure the post office does their job. And I factor in the transaction costs so I'm getting what I want after the sell is done. I don't like to ask people upfront to pay fees for paying me instantly. That's a convenience to the seller to get paid instantly and I won't quarrel over money that small. Not worth my time.
