The awful uncertainty of Buy It Now

One of my non mego holy grails came up today. BIN only...30 day window...the price is steepish, not crazy but steep. I may be the only person in the world who wants it that bad. I feel like it could sit for awhile, maybe the seller comes down on it. But if I wait maybe there is a bigger fool than I and I lose it. I want to pound the bin button right away and not risk it...but $145? Enhhhhh...argh, y'know?

If the 145 isnt going to break you then buy it now! As much as we know we only go around once. Life is crazy, enjoy what you can.

This thread was a pointless exercise in delaying the inevitable. Of course I bought it.

This is a vintage 1980's Banana Republic store employee vest. I found pictures of it a year ago online from someone who had sold one in a garage sale years ago so I knew they existed. I hadn't even mentioned it on my blog because I didn't want it to be on anyone's radar but mine and I've scrutinized every vintage BR vest that's been on eBay since. It's not even my size, but it's mine now! California sales tax any everything.

              I'm glad you bought it.

                Mmm, thanks.

That coat is not vintage, you'd know that if you studied the Tag.

Hah, I'll keep my eyes open for vintage tags in the future.

Like that's going to happen! I'm a grown man that just last week was trying to get a wig to look right on a doll. You're Vin Diesel compared to my Wally Cox. Anyway, pretty sweet vest. I used to love their catalogs too, back when they had the Israeli paratrooper briefcase, like 25 years ago. They were like old Gurney's seed catalogs from the 60s and 70s--you could just read them for the art.

Oh yeah! I was right about BR!!
I hope your progeny wears it in good health. And that they work somewhere else.

Isn't it kind of refreshing to have a grail cost less than $150?

HAHA. Oh yes! When I was chasing Sesame Street finger puppets it wasn't fair. I had a MOC Mego collector's mentality, it was like taking an elephant gun to a water pistol fight.

I was going over my records of purchases for this BR collection from last year. I don't regret a single one, I love it all. That's a good collection.

What's nice is that the clothes at least have some practical value, too. Do you wear them, or are they all sealed in custom acrylic cases?

I wear what fits (vintage sizes--oh my, a size large is not what it used to be) and what isn't tagged. Most of the collection is catalogs and bags and things like that, but I have a bush jacket I love and a growing collection of hats I enjoy.

They also issued repros of some of their vintage t-shirts in modern sizes.
