I was at radioshack the other day picking up a few cans of air. So the kid asked me for my name. I asked what the heck they needed my name for. It really ticked me off. He was cool about it as we actually joked. He thanked me for being funny as some people get flat out rude but he has to enter something into the computer for the transaction to take place. I could see what must have been a manager trying to listen in from another part of the store. What the heck ever happened to Did you find everything you needed? and That will be..........I felt bad for the kid.

You need them for the best prices, but when you sign up, nobody says you have to give them your real name or even a good email.I have a junk yahoo email for just such things.Comment

I have a few but am selective. The one that I get the most use out of that actually makes sense for me is my AMC stubs card. I go to the movies enough, almost always at AMC Theatres, so it definitely works out in my favor to have one.
Before they close dup I love having the Borders card since the discounts were substantial and they would always E-mail great coupons.
On the flip side I always turn down the offers for an FYE card. They've been closing stores like mad, only the fact that they have high traffic mall locations is keeping them alive. I'm sure eventually, even that won't be enough.Comment

The only rewards card I use all the time is the one I have from KROGER that's about ten years old at this point. It saves me some cash on groceries and gives me a discount on gasoline which makes it worth having IMHO. I do get really tired of having store employees trying to hoist reward cards on me all the time; that gets old really fast....sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.Comment
