The wife really wants to see this one and i have been interested, but i appreciate your review Sean. I think were looking at seeing it Weds now. I can't stand Stewart and have never seen how anyone could think she was hot as she always just looks weird to me. But Theron is gorgeous and one my wife lets me get away with saying it about.

They could film Ms. Theron sitting in a room watching paint dry and I would watch it! Not only does she have looks, but she also has great acting chops, too!

I know there have been people suggesting that MARVEL cast her as The Enchantress for THOR II and that would be a great thing to see...!

Well since two of you are going to see this on my mini review, I'll expand just a bit more into what I meant when I said this was the perfect fantasy film... First off, I was on the fence about seeing this movie in the first place since Red Riding Hood and Alice in Wonderland stunk and I went in with very low expectations which is usually the best way to see a movie. Next week, Prometheus comes out and I've been dying to see it for a year now so there's a good chance it's going to be a let down in some regard. I love fantasy films but really, they can get weird. Snow White & The Huntsman never strays into territory where say the Dark Crystal or Legend went. It looks like they paid tribute to some of the older fantasy films too as there are subtle reminders of the good parts. I won't give anything away here but just as an example, there's a scene envolving a horse right in the beginning that could have been ripped right from The Never Ending Story. The movie doesn't dwell on it and it's subtle and what happens to the horse is implied but I noticed the similarity right away. (The only difference here is you won't have Nightmares about it 20 years later.) Fantasy movies can sometimes be confusing too as your expected to know about the folklore or there are elements to the movie that are implied but get muddled in translation like in an Excalibur. You never not know what was going on in Snow White. Although the movie is violent to a degree, it's not anything like Pans Labyrinth but has a similar feel to it when things get creepy but it never grosses out or is overly gory although there are certainly enough scenes where it is implied. This also isn't a vehicle movie for Kristen Stewart like Alice was for Johnny Depp or Red Riding Hood was for Amanda Seyfried (who I think looks like a fish but another time...) It's an ensemble cast that all play their parts very, very well. There is no weak link here. How many of you knew Ian McShane of Deadwood and Bob Hoskins from Roger Rabbit play two of the dwarfs? The casting is perfect and and the director didn't go all Tim Burton on the movie either. There were moments in the film where I thought it was going to stray into that "what the hell is going on territory" that these types of movies stray into but it just never did. Another nice thing is the subtle humor. The dwarfs are funny in the way Gimli was funny in LOTR and there's not a sense of forced comedy in an attempt to break up a dramatic scene. Everything comes natural. There's no Damon Waynes cast simply for comic relief in this movie and there aren't any cheesy antics or slapstick routines that don't fit the movie. At it's core Snow White is a quest movie and unlike most other quest movies, the script is really good too. You know exactly what the characters are there to do and unlike say Willow, the characters don't get stupidly sidetracked along the way to where you forget what they set out to do in the first place. Older fantasy movies can have a decent story like Krull but have laughable special effects that derail the movie. The special effects were spot on here and another nice thing is not every bit of magic needs a 15 minute backstory. Lord of The Rings is probably the best of the genre but the nice thing about Snow is it doesn't take 18 hours of film for the characters to complete the task either. The movie is actually under 2 hours and quick paced and it ties up any loose ends it may have created along the way. I realize the more I talk it up, the more expectations some of you will have but now that I've had a night to sleep on it, I'll say what I said before, the way this movie was crafted, it's the most perfect fantasy film I've ever seen and I've seen all of them.

Just got back from seeing the film and all I can say is WOW!!!!! This was with out a doubt the most perfect fantasy movie ever. The cast was outstanding. I can totally see not liking Stewart cause of the Twilight thing but I haven't seen those movies and I really haven't seen her in anything noteworthy at all but she was perfect as Snow. Even if you don't like her bad actors can turn out a gem every once in a while (see Keanu Reeves in A Scanner Darkly) Hemsworth as the Huntsman was great and Charlize Theron was amazing as the Queen. She stole the show and should get an Oscar for her performance (she won't but she was that good.) I also don't ever talk about how good special effects are these days but the look and feel of this film was perfect. The visuals could not have been better and the subtle aging effects and little touches to the movie were just perfect. Even the song at the end of the movie could not have been performed by a better group (Florence & The Machine.) Here's the thing, I never rave about a film like this and I can find fault with almost any film, even the movies I really enjoy (X-Men 1st Class, Avengers, Cabin In The Woods) but I really can't find a thing wrong with Snow White & The Huntsman. This is what Alice In Wonderland, Red Riding Hood, Legend, The Dark Crystal, Willow, Krull, Narnia and all the others tried to be and Lord of The Rings actually was but without the run time. This is going to be a cult classic 20 years from now and is honestly the best fantasy movie I've ever seen. No Joke.

The bummer for me on this one is that my wife and I can't stand Kristen Stewart. Otherwise it looks like a cool movie. We've just never cared for her dopey look and apparent total lack of talent. I'm glad you enjoyed it though. I was excited about it, until I realized it was her as the main character. Does she get killed, in the movie? Maybe I could see it for that.
I think for me it's kind of like The Last Samurai. I never really liked Cruise, but did like the move otherwise.
