    John Rambo-2008

Well I finally this this film last and I really liked it man Stallone is old school not one CGI shot I noticed .very well made with a modest $50 million budget.I also saw the Expendables -2010 the other day and really liked that!

Stallone is becoming my Hero in terms of still making action films the old School way!

There was some cgi with the blood gushing/limbing scenes but yeah, very good in that respect otherwise.

Great film, but tons and tons of cgi in the battle sequences.

Aw what the heck, why not just pay Stallone out the ying-yang and say "Okay, Sly, now because we're shooting this movie practically, we're gonna have to cut off your arm? Is that okay...?"
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

I thought that "John Rambo" was good, as well.

Crazy fun movie - but I noticed tons of computer effects enhancing the fighting sequences. Blood splatter, bullets, bodies and body parts, dirt flying around, that big-a** bomb that took down half the forest - a lot of CG.

                    Look under Cinematographic Process -
                    Rambo (2008) - Technical specifications

Digital intermediate - this means (from what I understand) all the raw film was transferred to a digital format for editing, playing with the film's look, effects - etc - then transferred back to film.

I think I know what you're saying though - the characters weren't entering "the Matrix" and flying around or anything - it was straight-up old school in terms of the physical action.

Have you seen Rocky Balboa (2006) yet? It's pretty awesome too. It might be my favorite of all the sequels.

                            Yes indeed, a great movie.
Also loved how it ended, with Rambo returning home at last... it's almost like he's come full circle on his journey from when we first saw him at the beginning of First Blood.
