The real reasons behind the GI JOE Retaliation delay. WARNING SPOILERS!!!

It wasn't just to add 3D.

    Spoilers

Apparently it needs a lot of reshoots. The movie was terrible, tested poorly and people didn't like Duke getting killed. Killing Duke is a terrible idea. You think they would have learned that after the original GI JOE animated movie.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I'm a GI JOE fan (at least up till the '87 line) and I have NO INTEREST at all in this. The film, like the first one, looks like absolute GARBAGE. Just mindless hollywood crap. Nothing in it even resembles GI Joe to me.

The first one was so bad I was embarrassed watching it. Like I was actually embarrassed for the people involved.

I'll be the first to say it: live action movies based on toylines are bound to fail. They are best for comics, cartoons, etc.

Never saw the first one and likely won't be seeing this one, either, even with the addition of Willis and The Rock...
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

C'mon. They're making a live action movie based on a game that you place pegs in ships and guess numbers until you sink them. One of the most boring games ever created IMHO so I guess I would have to agree with you. Plus the movie is nothing like the game, not even a little.

Why is it always the popular toy lines. Doesn't anybody think outside the box anymore? In this day of CGI, you could create a great movie based on something like The Centurions, or the Inhumanoids. The cartoons were great. Much better than the Joe cartoons.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

I already read that Duke Died somewhere's else ...., and thought the Idea was Crap when I read it then and was sorta Bummed.

This is why I hated X-men 3 ...., They killed Cyclops in favor of a More Popular Character for Holywood ( Wolverine) and in this Case Switching out the Rock for Tatum .....

I read the re-shoots were to have Tatum's character live b/c he's gotten so popular lately. May just be a rumor.

I kind of gleaned from the trailers that Duke died. That IS stupid, especially since Tatum has indeed gotten popular. Maybe they are dialing back the Rock's presence and putting more Duke back in?

                  >live action movies based on toylines are bound to fail.

                  Just ask Michael Bay.

                  >I read the re-shoots were to have Tatum's character live

All they need to do is have someone yell "Duke's alright!" at the end. It worked before.

                  >Why is it always the popular toy lines. Doesn't anybody think outside the box anymore?

                  Known name = safer bet.

                  >you could create a great movie based on something like The Centurions, or the Inhumanoids.

....or something completely new.... but they won't 'cos it's too much of a risk.
