    What to do in Boston?

My wife and I are going to Boston next month for vacation. Neither of us have ever been there before. We're going to do all of the tourist things like the Cheers bar, some museums and visit Salem for some witch stuff. But, I was wondering if anyone can recommend any good toy stores, comic book shops, flea markets or other geeky things in the area. My wife might let me stop at a few of them.

I visited Boston 2 years ago and a few places were cool to see. There are 2 locations for the Cheers bar. One is in Boston, the city proper, and looks nothing like the one on TV. It's located in this really large food court, tho I forget its name. There are standees of the actors from Cheers so you can take pictures and downstairs is an extensive souvenir shop. I hear the other one is somewhat outside the city.

Also accross the street from this food court is a comic book store. I was a little disappointed in their stock. Some comics, some toys, more CD than anything tho.

The Aquarium is pretty cool. My friend and I wanted to visit the Salem attraction but decided to skip it. It's not in the city.

Also Boston has a subway for traveling around. Check out the map here:

MBTA Subway 'The 'T' > Maps, Schedules, and Fare Information for the Boston Area Subway System

    This has some extensive maps:

MBTA.com > Complete Public Transportation System Map

also this walk Boston web site might be useful:

If you're at all into the history thing there's a ton of stuff to do. Old North Church, Paul Revere House, Lexington and Concord, etc. Fanueil Hall is a nice visit. Took DaveMc to the Hard Rock there when he was in town. If you're a sports fan Fenway is a must, just for the historic factor. John's right Cheer's is more hype than anything. One of those "I was there" things more than anything. It is right near the Boston Common so you can visit the Common and just stop in at Cheers to say you saw it. Boston Museum and New England Aquarium are cool also. The high speed ferry from Boston to Provincetown is a cool ride. Not cheap but cool. It's the very tip of Cape Cod and a nice day trip. Real beachy and lots of small shops and restaurants. The Boston duck tours is cool. Amphibious bus that gives you a tour of Boston including a tour through the Charles River. If you've ever seen any Boston team championship rally's they use the duck boats for those. Salem is a bit away from the city.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

I would think Red Sox game if for nothing else a chance to see Fenway Park. Take the tour and walk around Eutaw Street. Faneuil Hall is pretty close and historic and you can walk the trail and see all the touristy stuff there. One of the Cheers restaurants is there but the one you really want to go to is the Bull & Finch Pub on Beacon Street which is what the show modeled the bar after. You'll recognize it instantly from the outside. Cape Cod is nice and right next to that is Hyannis which is where the Kennedy's are from. Lots of stuff on JFK there, antique shops (just a heads up if you didn't know; New England Antiques are usually really, REALLY old though), and a winery there (Flea Market on Saturday too in Cape Cod) but Boston is not that close. Your looking at a solid 2 hr drive across the state to get over there. Salem, Mass is about a 15 minute drive outside of Boston and although it's not crazy like it is there in the Fall, still a cool place to check out if you've never been. You'll find a few cool comic/toy shops in Salem and a few pretty neat antique shops along side all the witchy stuff. The Boston Aquarium is really one of the best aquariums and a good option if it rains.

Of course Fenway park is a must. But Boston is loaded with american history. Some of it megocrazy already mentioned.

We're not really baseball fans, so I don't think we'll go to Fenway park. But, I appreciate all of the other suggestions. Thanks guys!
