Steve Jobs would be disappointed and screaming at the top of his lungs.
In November 2011, I got a 3G Verizon ipad2.
From the device itself - you can create a cellular account - pay $20 and have month-to-month pre-paid service. You can terminate and re-activate at will.
I had a terrible time (I work in I.T) and the account would not provision. I had to call Verizon 3 times and make one trip to a Verizon store. The fourth call; I finally got someone who knew what he was doing and the device was up and running in about 20 minutes.
Yesterday - work issued me a replacement iPad3 4G.
My ipad2 account expires in a few days then auto-renews...seeing problems transferring accounts before - I opted to just create a second, all brand new account for the 4G model.
Guess what - same damn thing. Would not activate.
I spent another hour on the phone with Verizon...who assured me it was nothing more than an activation server issue and my device would get caught up within an hour.
That was 14 hours ago and it still won't activate. Actually, now it say the SIM is no good.
Last year, when I took the iPad2 into the Verizon store...they pretty much told me to get bent. They wanted me to sign a 2yr contract and pay a $35 activation fee...well, that is NOT how Apple intends for the device to be used...it's supposed to be simple; right out of the box.
If someone here works in Verizon and can just do this for me - would ya? I'd just PayPal ya (Or get ya dinner and beer at megoMeet) to save me the hours of frustration calling these idiots.
gonna be a frustrating morning I suspect....
