    Anyone work for Verizon?

Steve Jobs would be disappointed and screaming at the top of his lungs.

    In November 2011, I got a 3G Verizon ipad2.
From the device itself - you can create a cellular account - pay $20 and have month-to-month pre-paid service. You can terminate and re-activate at will.

I had a terrible time (I work in I.T) and the account would not provision. I had to call Verizon 3 times and make one trip to a Verizon store. The fourth call; I finally got someone who knew what he was doing and the device was up and running in about 20 minutes.

    Yesterday - work issued me a replacement iPad3 4G.

My ipad2 account expires in a few days then auto-renews...seeing problems transferring accounts before - I opted to just create a second, all brand new account for the 4G model.

Guess what - same damn thing. Would not activate.
I spent another hour on the phone with Verizon...who assured me it was nothing more than an activation server issue and my device would get caught up within an hour.

That was 14 hours ago and it still won't activate. Actually, now it say the SIM is no good.

Last year, when I took the iPad2 into the Verizon store...they pretty much told me to get bent. They wanted me to sign a 2yr contract and pay a $35 activation fee...well, that is NOT how Apple intends for the device to be used...it's supposed to be simple; right out of the box.

If someone here works in Verizon and can just do this for me - would ya? I'd just PayPal ya (Or get ya dinner and beer at megoMeet) to save me the hours of frustration calling these idiots.

gonna be a frustrating morning I suspect....

If you have an Apple Store nearby, take your 3G in there. When I bought my ipad, they had it working in 5 minutes.

I'd recommend the Apple Store as well. My wife has a 3G Ipad, and I did the activation for it and don't recall any activation issues, but Verizon has many layers of issues within their customer care....

I'd love to visit AppleStore, but I am a few hours away from the closest one.

I did call Verizon back this am....this guy tells me they have to send me a new SIM card.

        Sersly.

He said since the SIM had an attempt - an attempt that failed, it is no good now.

I wish I knew if he was blowing smoke...

          I feel for you!

Without giving you the whole long sob story, I bought my wife a Nexus phone as a Christmas present for my wife and had a similar issue where I ultimately had to replace the SIM. But I am pretty sure you should be able to walk into any Verizon store and get your replacement, rather than waiting for one to come in the mail (if that helps).

so I paid a visit to my local Verizon store...cringing inside as I even open the front door..

I explain the issue to one lady...she pushes me off onto another person...I tell him the story (incase I lost you in the previous sentence, I have had to explain the whole situation to two people now since I have walked in the door and BOTH act like it is the FIRST time of ever hearing such a case).

He tries to push me onto a post-paid plan contract...says that will fix my issue.

no no no (blood pressure spiking to unsafe levels)

I tell him to change the SIM card and let ME re-attempt activation for pre-paid via the device as it is intended.

He hoe-hummed around and finally gave in.

We put a new SIM in, I re-entered the same info I did on my first attempt and it worked.

Glad that headache is behind me. I have no patience for this stuff.

I really would like to know why it took a SIM change...sersly.
I don't accept the fact that SIM cards are that volatile.
