I dunno it's all a matter of preference. To me, the Superman movies are awful. I tried to watch them with my son a few months ago and they are long and boring. The 1st one takes forever to get going and has that fly around the world backwards ending which is one of the worst copouts in cinematic history and don't even get me started on that Lois Lane poem that stops the movie dead, the second one has all those stapstick elements thrown in, and do the 3rd and 4th ones really even count? Sure Reeves nailed the part and I love Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor but the scripts to the films and the movies as a whole, stunk. Meanwhile Smallville ran for 10 years and really developed the Superman mythos. I used to hate the character of Superman but after I started watching the show, I discovered a whole new respect for him. Today he's one of my favorite super heroes now as a direct result of Smallville. I thought Welling nailed the part and he played him for a decade which is longer than any one else, so how do you not think of him as Superman? He developed overtime into the Man of Steel and while not every episode was a homerun, they really captured the essence of what makes him great. I really wished they got him for the upcoming movie, that would have made total sense."Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."Comment

Connery's movies are too cartoonish and agreed, they are very, very dated. I love Roger Moore but he was the Bond I grew up with. Have never even seen the Lazenby movie. Dalton sucked. Brosne was great in Goldeneye but the next two movies were lame. the one with Halle Berry was good but not great. I like Craig. he is the first Bond that looks like he can kick ***. i hope he can do a few more before he is too old to play the partComment

I'm sorry, not an attack on you...but I detest Tom Welling and Smallville with a passion...nothing but a Clark Kent show for the 90210 crowd.
Tom Welling doesn't deserve to be called Superman...wearing the suit from a distance on the last show after a decade, well, that was just downright laughable.sigpicComment

Welling was on TV for 9 Seasons...., Because Warner is a Horrible Company that is in Charge of some of the greatest Super Heroes Ever.
in 9 Years ..., you shoulda saw 4 Bad Arse Superman Theater Films , if they cared about the Character.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
always trading for Hot Toys Figures .Comment

You know it was funny, the other day i was watching Scott Pilgrim vs the World. I didn't know Brandon Routh was in it, but what really stuck me was A) the size of this guy. 6.3 ft and really stacked and B) and that I couldn't stop thinking that he was Superman.
I think that he had done a better job than most gave him credit for.Last edited by clemso; May 22, '12, 6:28 AM.Comment

Craig makes a damn good Bond. I like the hard edged quality he brings to the role. He also looks bad arse and tough as nails... which is perfect as the character is a trained killer and naval commader after all.
And yeah... Smallville was terrible and Tom Welling isn't Superman. Never was, never will be.
(In my opinion of course. Not trying to offend any die-hard Smallville fans.)Last edited by Bruce Banner; May 22, '12, 7:21 AM.PUNY HUMANS!Comment

This thread needs to be renamed "The best Superman" only a few posts had anything to do with Bond or the Skyfall trailer! :smil
Reeves was a quality Superman! Welling was for the high school kids and not to be taken seriously as superman
I enjoyed all the Bonds! All the movies were fun to me!sometimes threads just become something else....no harm just fun conversation......

Sometimes these threads start out like a Simpsons episode....they start out in one direction and end up completely different from where the beginning was. It's all good though.
Wow..I really can't believe there's so much hate for Welling. I meant that as an off the cuff comment and it's really gotten more attention than the Bond thing. I only got into Smallville after the series ended (never saw one episode when it was current on TV) and was so impressed by the show I couldn't get enough of itl. I did watch 90210 when I was in highschool but I was always more of a Melrose Place fan and I guess I could see the earlier shows (when Clark was in school) being similar with dating, and prom and all but the more the show went on, the more it matured with the audience. I also didn't not mind at all that he never wore the costume. I kind of liked that about the show that they didn't throw it in your face halfway through the series and kept it true to it's original "learning to embrace what you'll become" theme. I get why there's such a respect for Reeves in the role and I'm not saying he was a bad Superman (he did get weird about playing Superman later in life though and aside from the whole paralysis thing, that became his entire identity) I'm just saying the movies he was in were bad films. Bringing back almost all the cast from the movies and all the nods the show gave to the original films were great too. I would have thought fans of the movies would have loved that (I'm not a fan of the films and I loved it) One thing I couldn't stand about Smallville though....Lana freakin Lang. From episode 1 I thought they made a poor casting choice and that girl would just not go away (even when Kristen Kreuk left the show she still hung around) What an awful actress.Last edited by spacecaps; May 23, '12, 10:15 AM."Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you."Comment
