It's O.K. Lots`a great cameos. Good period atmosphere. The interpetation of the comic strip ain't half bad. It could've been better with more Indy-style cliffhanger action in it. Less Madonna singing. 7 outta 10 I would say.
It's a good film. I remember I was about ten or eleven when it came out and for me, it was one of the most anticipated movies ever. I was kind of let down when I saw it as a kid because what came out was like a sugary coated movie. I recently rewatched it with my son and he loved it. If you haven't seen it yet, save it for the Holidays cause it's kind of a New Years Eve theme movie. One thing that didn't hold up well at all was the Madonna music. It's pretty terrible. The song More stops the movie dead for about 5 minutes and it's like nails on a chalk board bad. I've mentioned this before but the film was supposed to be really dark and gritty and ran almost 3 hours. I've heard the original cut is a completely different film then what was released but Disney stepped in, shrunk down the run time and cut out a lot of the violence and um, Disneyfied it. Warren Beatty owns the rights to the film and he's working on getting the directors cut out on blu-ray. That would be one I'd buy for sure. It's also a brand I'd love to see get a remake and not shoe-horn in all the villains into one film. If they follow the formula of the old Dick Tracy Serials from the 40's, it could be a relaunch for the whole classic detective genre.

I like Dick Tracy a lot. The way they captured the look of the comic was great (only used the colors that the comic had). The only problem was Warren Beaty, he should've put on the Tracy nose.
That's Michael Shannon. Awesome actor. He's the aspergers guy in Revolutionalry Road, The FBI Agent in Boardwalk Empire, and he's in a fantastic movie called Take Shelter. He's like 6'7 and always plays a bit of a hard arse too. Most actors I want to go away for awhile but he's one of those actors that I wish would make more movies. Dick Tracy would be perfect.
